Just a quick one, I know we've discussed this before, and I KNOW I've left it too late to really do anything (mummy brain!!) but I'm not going to be able to take CC's at the show on Sunday (should I sell anything), it's really unprofessional isn't it?   bear_sad   Yikes!!  I'd appreciate any advice on what you would do in my shoes, apart from think about it earlier next time!!   bear_tongue

Don't worry, most artists can't accept CC's. Collectors know this and usually they have enough cash with them.

I've never accepted credit cards.  Most collectors bring cash or a cheque book.  Previously I have had collectors go out to find a cash machine because they really wanted a bear but didn't have the cash on them.  There are plenty of cash machines in Stratford, so if someone really wants something, they can go and find some cash!!
I don't think I've ever really lost a sale by not accepting credit cards - so don't panic!!!

I've not ever accepted credit cards, either, unless the show promoter offers the service.  This is one problem you don't have to stress about.   bear_thumb  bear_thumb  bear_thumb

Yep - I'm in that frame of mind now!!  I can only do 6 days worth of stuff now before the event, so what will be, will be!!!  Doesn't stop my stomach churning every time I remember it is less than a week though!!  I haven't even thought of my own stall yet - I am just praying everything runs smoothly on the day!!!  Argh!!!

Samantha, your show is going to be great... I just know it!!! I really wish I could be there!!! Some year......

Clare - check with Samantha about whether she offers a credit card acceptance service. I've started doing this as a promoter at my shows. Also, if you have an artist friend at the show who DOES accept credit cards and it's the only way a collector can buy a bear from you then ask that artist if they'd process the card for you. You could pay the artist whatever processing fees they are charged.

Only 6 more days? Time flies!! That means 7 more days before the rest of the world gets a report and pictures!!! I can't wait!

Little word of warning here if I may step in briefly ... I'm not sure if it's the same in the US but I do know that some credit card companies in the UK stipulate you must not process payments for anyone outside of your own business.  I know it sounds a small thing to ask as a favour of a friend, but I do know of a bear artist who had their merchant supply withdraw their credit card facility simply because they helped a friend in this way.  The unfortunate bear artist told me this herself by the way.

oooooooh no.... it's all soooo confusing!!!!!!!  bear_cry  I hadn't even thought about how anyone would pay....if they even buy anything!  bear_wacko it's all getting rather too near....I'm having a trial table-set up tomorrow....my bears are getting even smaller...think I should just make a huge one in the last few days and plonk it in the middle  see you all Sunday   Lynne

If you do accept credit cards, I'd find a way to do it over the phone or on a laptop.  I've had three transcations declined when I got home and input them into the computer.  The first two came through with new cards.  I'm still waiting on the third.  I had to write her a letter.

Hi!

Yes, I have been wondering about going the credit card way, and worrying about it!  But after reading comments here, it would seem that there is no need to worry and just carry on with normal cash and cheques.

I'm pleased to know I'm not the only one freaking out!!!   bear_cry  I haven't finished even one new bear yet!!!!!!   Hopefully I will get one finished today!  I made the fatal mistake of making quite a few bears all at the same time which isn't a pleasant prospect when you realise that you have sixty seams to sew up, twenty-four horrible ears to put on and then .......  noses!!!!!!!  aaarrrrggggghhhhhh!!!!  bear_wacko   My tum is turning over every time I think about the show but it will be a lovely day and nerves will end as soon as I walk through the door (hopefully!)

I am really looking forward to meeting everyone and putting a face to all the names.  You will be able to recognise me instantly as I will be the one with a bag over my head!!!!!!!   Ha!

Hugs to all!
