Yes, anyone was participating in the original TB Scene Olympic challenge, please send the photos to me instead of TB Scene. I think I've contacted everyone, but if I left someone out, my apologies.

Hello everyone,
I'm a little confused. Is Mindy actually accepting the TBS award entries as well??

I think Mindy's comment clarified that ...

... but I can't see why any bears made for the TBS Awards, couldn't be entered into any of the other magazine award competitions providing they qualify and are not too late for deadlines.

EDIT: Sue Ann has arranged a second Gallery for the TBS Award entries on TT:

I have not taken over TB Scene's awards program. I'm just doing the Olympic challenge. However, as Sandi suggested, your entries are welcome in the TOBY Awards (2009 info coming in September) provided they fit the categories and criteria.

Maria

    Yes Maria, I was talking about your bears!

I think all the bears are wonderful...Paula's is traditionally British with the red white and blue, Lynette's been very creative with her South African Flag, and yours are soooo cheerful, you can see their excitement at going to the games. I think you all should be congratulated for such a splendid effort.

I wish we could see all the others too...does anyone know if any of the other eight belong to TT?

Now I will have to wait a whole week to see if any more are posted...I'm jetting off tomorrow for the Show at Jupiter's Casino with Betty...and filling is as roving reporter for Sandra (ABC mag) which will be fun. Also catching up with Laraine and Tracey from New Zealand for dinner on Saturday evening...so I'll see you all when I get back with all my goodies.

Hi Ladies, Love the challenge bears, way to go Sandi she made me smile, her face is fantastic.  Wonder if anyone can fill me in, Lynette wrote to me and asked me to represent Scotland, I am delighted, a little unsure of how the challenges work but I have already started an olympic ice skater, a huuuuuge challenge for me as I have to start a little dress making, eek.  Just so thrilled to be asked xxxxx Hugs Lynne xxx

I have already changed my mind, gymnastics I think   bear_flower

Oh, what did I do???
totally confused now. I accepted Lynette proposition to represent France in that challenge in Taiwan without realising it was that Olympic bear challenge!!!
So now, not only i will have to make a bear, but that bear will have to be a champion!!!!!!! Oh dear!
Well, after thinking longly about it, I decided that bear could be a judoka. French champions are good at Judo!
I selected a beautiful piece oof deep blue mohair from Intercal...
Now, please cross your fingers, as I am not sure I will manage to finnish him in time!  bear_ermm
As any of you ever desinged a kimono for a bear???? This is going to be a challenge for me!

Beary hugs,
Sophie.

In case anyone is getting confused, TAIWAN OLYMPIC BEAR CHALLENGE  is a complete new challenge and has nothing what so ever to do with any other Olympic Bear challenge that is being run/done/promoted by any other organization.

2008 TAIWAN BEAR OLYMPIC CHALLENGE

The 2008 TBOC committee decided to have this competition to coincide with the 2008 Summer Olympics being held in August 2008 in China. It also wanted to recognize the work of artists that had been invited to participate in another Olympic competition (United Kingdom Teddy bear magazine) which has been cancelled with the closing of the magazine.

Initially one artist per country was invited. The 2008 TBOC decided to make the competition a bigger challenge and include as many artists from around the world limiting the numbers from each country. (Over 32 countries are participating) 3 bear artists from 36 countries around the world have been invited, the artists that have responded to previous mails sent out have been included, some countries only had one artist prepared to take up the challenge. We also included countries that were not represented at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in China August 2008.

Who benefits and what happens to the entry fee for the 2008 TBOC?
Not only do bear artists get the exposure of their work, the living bears that have inspired bear making artists, will benefit. Proceeds from the 2008 TBOC competition will be donated to the "Asian Moon Bear Rescue Fund in China" URL: www.animalsasia.org

The rest of the info can be found on the link below

http://www.twtba.org.tw/2008_TBOC/index.asp

Lynette
Some countries are short on artists due to the artists being invited not being able to participate.i.e. Belgium- no artists are representing them. Other countries also need another artist or two, I did ask in a previous post , however no one contacted me.
As you can see this is just not for a bear artist, it is also for the real bears that have allowed us to become bear artists.

Response from Jill Robinson

this is incredible Lynette - really wonderful news, thank you very much.
I send lots of luck for the competition and grateful thanks from
us all, warmly, Jill
