IMG_1345.jpgHi everyone.  I am desperately searching for a teddy bear.

Here's some background:

When I was a very young child my sister and I shared a blue and pink teddy bear.  This bear was always one our favorite toys and it was a gift to my older sister when she was Christened.

To make a long sad story shorter, my sister was killed along with my nephew and brother-in-law in Aug 2004.  My sister used to sleep with this bear on her pillow each night....and if I had my bearing working after her death I would have looked for "our" special teddy...but we were all too distraught at the time when we were looking through thier badly burnt down home.  That is the ONLY item I wanted.

For the past four years I have searched on the internet for a bear like this little blue and pink teddy...not even knowing who the manufacturer was.

I have had no luck but still look form time to time....hoping I will find one.

Then...one day just last week, Janice from TT sent me a copy of Teddy Bear Scene Magazine so I would have  the feature story on me since I did not subscribe to TBS.

I was ever so pleased with the story...and as I thumbed through the following pages...my hand touched page 24.....and at that very momnet my sister's bear popped up into my head....this is the absolute truth.......then I turned over the page and on page 25 was my sisters bear at the bottom of page 25.  I almost fell on the floor.

What is even more amazing is that the article was written by a bear collector named Jill Byron.  Two of my sisters best friends were Jill and Byron.    I can hardly believe it.  It's as if it were meant for me to find this bear.

Finding this bear means so much to me.  More than anything else.  It would be like having a part of my sister with me all the time.

I have contacted the editor and she has forwarded my email to Jill Byron.  I have not heard anything back and perhaps she is not interested in parting with this bear.  I am hoping very much that she will.

From the article, the bear is a 1960s Farnell.
I woudl take one in any color and any condition...though ideally the blue and pink bear is indentical to my sisters bear.

Can anyone help me find this bear or one like it?  I would be willing to give some of my own bears from my personal collection along with a handsome dollar amount to anyone who can find one for me.

Hi Judi, I do so hope that one of us can help you in your quest.  I have printed out the picture you have supplied and I will keep checking Australian Ebay and other selling sites here in Oz to see if one like this becomes available for sale.  Will let you know if I have any success.

Judi, my mums bear looks a bit like these guys, only all white and a bit less fluffy... I know he was bought for her in America in the late 60's, if that is of any use?

I've never seen a teddy like that one Judi, but I will certainly watch for one for you - and would be delighted to gift it to you if I did find one. The coincidences in the photo being in that particular issue along with your write up and the name connections are amazing! I don't have a copy of this issue of the magazine but in the photo you posted the 3 bears look like they are respectively blue, yellow, and pink main color with white arms, feet, and ears. Is the one you are looking for mainly blue with pink or vice versa? Hopefully you will hear from this Jill Byron soon - I would imagine she will contact you even if she doesn't want to part with the bear as she may have more information for you or even have some ideas on how you can find one. Good luck with your search - with so many people on here there is a good chance someone will find one for you!

You guys are so wonderful and caring.  I knew I coudl get support here. bear_wub

Chloe, the bear was purchased in England in the 1960s.  I used to live there then.  SO I am sure it would not have come from America.  But you're awfully kind to ask.

Edie, the bear that I am looking for is identical to the bear on the left.  he is blue with pink inner ears, arms, feet and muzzle.  You are so kind...all of you to leave me such nice and caring comments.

I am hopeful that soon one will pass my way or one of you may come upon one.  Thank you for all , ever so uch for lending me your eyes.     This really means a lot to me. bear_wub

I'll keep my eyes open.

Maybe you could contact some of the toy museums and see if they have one.
I'm sure someone will.

Have you tried all the shops on the internet that sell old bears?
