I don't know if it matters, your show being in England and all, but march 14/15 '09 is also the date of 'Teddybear Welt', one of the big spring shows held in Wiesbaden, Germany, with 250+ exhibitors

erp. . .  teddy total is 25-26 April 2009, in Rheda-Wiedenbrück, Germany.  this is probably the biggest show we have, or at least it used to be.

may?

lol, sorry, melissa, welcome to the club!  we went through the same thing with the KDIGS show, and finally ended up in June, where we had to compete with weddings and graduations. . .it's a tough call.  we didn't want to try and open a new show on a date when we knew most major collectors would be elsewhere.

Yes... welcome to a show promoter's world!

Putting on a show takes so much more effort than just coming up with an exciting idea and a place to have it. There are a lot of things to consider, many potential road blocks and obstacles to get around.  A lot of "behind the scenes work" and research to be done before "going public" with any plans! If you can put together a small committee of people to help with various parts of the planning process it will make things easier. Its the saying "two heads are better than one!"

I have a couple of fellow show promoters and fellow artists who I bounce ideas off of. It helps to talk things out and get another person's perspective, hear how others have handled certain issues, get ideas, even words of caution. Other people's experiences can be invaluable as you face your own!

thanks daphne and melanie j... i will defo take all your comments on board and i am now working with a fantastic bear artist whom we will work together to get this event ironed out in more detail, the prolem is i am trying to set a date conveniant to all but this is impossible. so we are working on a better date that does not get to close to all the other major events thus hoping that many artsits will then join on board to help me create a fantastic event for us all it would be lovely for another show to be a success  and will be going ahead next year  as planned but with a better date hopefully i will be in touch soon melissa xthanks for all your kind help
