I'm usually a pretty placid person, but I'm sorry to say I am feeling less than fuzzy today.
One of our best loved UK teddy bear mags ceased publication back in mid June and despite several emails to their subs department and sending my form back as requested within 24 hours of the mag closing, I am still without my subscription refund virtually two months later. In fact, I have just received a reply to my email (sent two days ago), stating that my refund should be issued sometime 'in the next two weeks'. Speed does not appear to be of the essence with this particular company. I have also been advised they can't refund back onto my purchasing credit card and will have to send a cheque instead, which means I will now have to pay bank fees to pay the cheque in, pay parking and fuel charges to take it to the bank and lose a morning's work. We're not talking fortunes here, but we are talking principles. Grrrrrrr!
So, if anyone else out there is in the same boat, you have my sympathy. I think I am being treated very shabbily and this has certainly affected my future plans to advertise with the company's sister publication. Hmph.
Apologies for my lack of smiley head today!
Hi Paula...........
all very strange - I already got a cheque from them - dated July 14th..........and the reason I know the date is that I haven't had the chance or inclination to pay it in yet, so it's still sitting there. And like you - bank charges, and in our case, currency conversion, won't leave a lot. But I guess that it means that you WILL get your refund soon.............
huggies
Maria
I still have my form sitting here... I just got it a couple weeks ago though.. but I am in Canada and the post seems to take forever. I was looking for an email address to ask them if I can switch my subscription to one of their Miniature publications.. I don't want the mag they are offering.. but I would LOVE a dollhouse or a mini one.
Hugs,
Melanie
Aha! Seems grumpy bearmakers do get noticed eventually! I have just received an email telling me my 'cheque is in the post'! Isn't it odd that this morning it couldn't be issued and would take up to two weeks and one snotty email later ... ho hum.
Maria, I was wondering how the overseas subscription refunds would be taken of ... cheques must be almost useless by the time they've suffered the bank charges!
Melanie, the email address I have for the subscriptions department is: WgpSubs@warnersgroup.co.uk
I hope that helps.
Thank you, thank you Paula! You are a Gem. Glad to hear you are getting your refund!
Hugs!
Melanie
Reading this I just have to say that they refunded my credit card within 2 weeks, although it did take a while for them to reply to my email . I'm in Australia, seems weird that they are mucking you guys around with cheques and it has taken this long
. Hope you get it sorted soon
I really thought I was going to have fun and games getting my refund back but no that didn't happen I did get an email informing me that I would get a refund cheque and it would take about 4 to 6 weeks! Still can't understand why they needed that long
Anyway, cheque arrived and then I sent it all the way back to the UK again to put it into a UK bank account that we still have over there - well it was cheaper than cashing it here
So yeah Paula I think I would have been just as cranky as you if I was waiting for this refund and living in the same country! As it was I got a little cranky as I had to keep nagging them for my refund
Hmmn, I had a feeling I wouldn't be the only one! Just goes to show the little devils CAN issue credit card refunds if they choose to! What a cheek! I was under the impression that if goods were paid for by credit card, refunds had to be issued back onto that same credit card.
Paula,
That's the case in Canada - if you buy by Credit card, then the refund is by Credit card. I didn't think they could refund other ways but what do I know  !
hugs,
Brenda
I just wanted to mention I emailed them yesterday (thanks again Paula) and heard back from them today and they are switching my subcription to the Dollhouse magazine. Yay! That was easier than I thought it would be.
Hugs!
Melanie
I'm in the same boat, waiting for my refund..............First they sent me a letter when they were shutting down and said they did not owe me a refund.
Well I dug out my info and emailed them and in fact they owed me a 10 month refund.......then they said ok, yes they did owe me one..........
I got an email a few days ago that said the check was in the mail ..........guess we will see
Oh Tami, you too?!!!!
Guess what ... they just called me for advertising this afternoon!!!!!!!
Reading this Paula makes me so glad that I was able to pick up the magazine in town each month. Good luck on the refund.
Hugs, Jane.
Well I didn't opt for the refund I was just happy to receive the two owing as "Collect It" plus a bonus two issues...WELL I AM STILL WAITING.
Such a sad end to a wonderful magazine...and what a bitter taste it's leaving behind because of poor business management!
UPDATE.......... I did receive my refund check in the mail yesterday!!!
Still not got my refund yet, but it sounds like they are getting around to them now, glad you got yours Tami
Pauline
My cheque eventually came yesterday. Now I've just got to make time to take it into town and pay the bloomin' thing in!
After sending this second email (after comments on another post regarding emails going astray):
Hi again ...!
Could you please acknowledge you received my email and give me some idea when I can expect my copies of Collect It?
Thanks,
Sandi
This is the very curt reply I received today...no "Hello" or "Regards"...now you can understand what I mean about courtesy!
Have asked our subscription department to come back to you
...
(I have ommitted the person's name for obvious reasons.)
All I can add is I wouldn't advertise with any business that treats it's customers this way...would you?
EDIT: I'm glad your cheques are turning up...but have any of you who opted for the mag substitution received any further communication?
Couldn't agree more Sandi and sadly, I have advertised them to sling their hook and stop calling me for advertising. It's a sorry ending to Kathy's lovely TBS mag and has left a very bad taste as far as I'm concerned.
