Bobbi,
thought you were talking about the comic strip, and my favorite "For Better Or Worse".  It's actually her anniversary too! lol
How did those photos ever turn out that you took at Sauders?

LOL - For Better or Worse, Yep Leeann, I read that too - and that she is retiring, after a sort of surprise divorce, by 'revisiting' the beginning of the strip in 1967. Integrating the old with new. As with many, her dreams of a long 'sailing into the sunset...' is marred and the need for more financial security is keeping her at the drawing board for at least the foreseeable future, part-time.

(The images from Sauders are still in a Folder on the Desktop - no time to put them through Photoshop yet.)

I have to tell you all that you are going to see a REALLY aged bear! NATURALLY aged! Leeann bought a little 2" seated fabric bear of mine—Cubblet—over 10 years ago and has been wearing him to bear shows ever since (she told me back then that she would.) Sauders Village Ohio is the first time we've met in person since then. He has aged to perfection. I just loved his new/old look and took pix from every angle. I'll post pix as soon as Life settles down in a week of two. I promise! Labor Day is like New Years' Day to me; Thx ever so much for that great honor Leeann!

Bobbie,
such nice words!!  Yep, I love Cubblet!
on the "For Better or Worse" this past Sunday, she did a wrap up of the strip, future etc...but she also said she's going to be working on something brand new!
I was lucky enough to meet her at IDEX in San Franciso when Robert Tonner did April as a toddler.  I also got the April in her pj's, bathrobe and pink bunny slippers with her stuffed pink rabbit for my mom.  She was the nicest lady and a very nice thing was that she really liked my work also!
My whole family loves that strip and I would even get tears in my eyes at times or a really good laugh...sometimes even anger...Lynn really captured real family life and aged her characters as people really age..birth, even death...remember when the dog, Farley I think his name was, passed away after saving little April from the stream?  Sooo sad.
hugs,
Leeann

Bobbie.
Today is our 37th wedding anniversary!  For the VERY FIRST TIME, hubby forgot it.  He has so much on his plate and is really stressed and tired, so it's easily forgiven.  I did get a lovely drive to Port Perry to a miniature store, along with a stop at Michaels and we're having fish and chips tonight so I don't have to cook.  I'm a happy camper even after all these years.
I also love the For Better, For Worse comic strip - it's the only one I read.  It has felt like she resided in our house on several occasions.  Lynn is a brilliant writer and has a way of capturing a situation with both her animated style and her writing.  I've met her on a couple of occasions when we lived in Deep River, which is only about 90 miles from her house in Corbeil, just outside of North Bay.  She was related to an acquaintance of mine, and she also came for several book signings in the local book store.   We've driven by their lovely house in the woods on many occasions.  I was so sad to learn she had divorced, since the strip is based loosely on their own family life.  No "happily ever after" for her, I guess.  bear_sad

                                           hugs,

                                           Brenda

As the old saying goes there're only 2 guarantees in Life, Death & Taxes...

Sweet reminiscences Thx for adding to our the bulk of our knowledge.
& Happy Anniversary!

We've got you beat at 44 yrs. When I look at our grandparents' pix celebrating their GOLDEN anniversaries, they looked OLD!!! Somehow I just can't equate that with US!!!
Here's a picture taken a month ago with Don, me, Leo & Berta Hesen-Minten, when we all went downtown (Chicago) to the top of the Sears Tower to look out at a 360° 15+ mile view (it was a hot & a little hazy that day.)

Do we (I) look like I'm ready to wear clunky, little, heeled, lace-up shoes and those dark colored, old-lady shirtwaist dresses? They looked great on Great-Grandma, but not on me!!

Love, love Lynn's "For Better or Worse", too, and was really disappointed when she retired the current strip.  bear_cry  Happy Anniversary, Brenda, and that's a great photo, Bobbie!  Paul and I will be married 44 years, also, next month.

October is the 'new June' for Brides, Sue Ann. You were just Cutting edge and didn't know it.

We Picked the May weekend BEFORE the Indy 500 - to go to Brown County IN, into the heart of Covered Bridges, USA. Forgetting entirely that the Time Trials are the weekend BEFORE....
It's a good thing I got 'homesick' - "Enough with this honeymoon thing, let's get on with the Marriage part!"

It was bad enough swinging out AROUND Indianapolis on Thursday; I cannot imagine having to do it on Sat or Sun....
