Hi,

I have a quick question and a concern. I have just been written from a buyer through ebay about my return policy on one of my bears up for auction. They have been a member since august 2007 and have a 0 feedback.

I really do not have a return policy stated on my listings I will and do make every attempt to help with any problems or questions my customers have with any of my items. My feedback is 100% and I have not been asked this before since I joined ebay in 2003.

My concern is that I have a very strange feeling about this person. I find it odd that they have been a member for a year and have not bought or sold anything in that time. Also if they do purchase my bear and decide they do not want it I will have the time to spend getting it sent back to me and refunding the money if ebay is holding it for the 21 days or so.
I stand by my work and will return any money if need be as long as the item is returned in good condition.

Need your help please!!!!

Thanks,

Sheryl

That sounds seriously suspicious to me!! I would guess that they are going to try some kind of scheme. I would not personally buy with the intent to return so it sounds to me like they are up to no good. Besides if you have not stated a return policy, then you don't have one, all sales are final and insurance required on your shipping fees would cover you for lost or damaged items. You can report it to ebay but I doubt that they care they are all about the sellers now and have heard already about some unscrupulous buyers who claimed damage to items recieved demanding refund then never returning the item and filing a complaint with ebay, paypal refunded their moneys and the seller never got her item back. So she was out the items I recall it was a huge lot of Dolls and accesories about $400. worth and no money either. Becareful!!

Sheryl, that does sound very suspicious.  I think I would proceed with caution on this one .  It is so hard to know what to do on ebay now with all the scammers, and sellers having no recourse.

Sheryl, I agree with the others.  It sounds suspicious.
If the buyer makes you uncomfortable you can block them from bidding, or even cancel their bid if they make one.  Both are fairly easy to do.
It would give you peace of mind.

My husband andI had an account with ebay for more than a year before we purchased anything.  I have a seven day return policy, buyer pays all shipping, item must be returned in the same condition it was received, and smoke free.  I only had one bear return and one fabric return ever, that is the risk when you sell something that the purchaser can't hold in their hands.  Both returns had no problems.  Make sure your package is fully insured, and require that returns are sent back the same way.  If you are concerned I would contact ebay through live chat and see if they can offer you advice.

ps  Your feedback is over 100, so ebay will not be holding your money...you will

My return policy is bear can only be returned if faulty, and buyer is responsible for postage.
I did have this happen to me recently, as if I would list a bear that has one leg shorter than the other etc..no way.

Offered the customer a refund but she wants a replacement instead.

Once the bear arrives back to me then I will make a replacement...it is a hard thing but customers should not be able to send items back just because they change their minds. How can you police this if e-bay takes the word of the buyer not the seller.

There are I know bad sellers as well, but shouldn't e-bay take into your account your feed-back.

Thank you everyone for your help!

I returned the persons email regarding my return policy. I do no that I am at fault for not listing it on the auctions but again I have never had that question asked.
Any new auctions will now have my return policy on it.

I do my very best to make everyone happy with the items they purchase from me and I am always willing to work with you. I really do not want to loose any new buyers, but on the other hand I don't want to get scammed either.

I work very hard on all of my items and take pride in what I do.

Again thanks for all your input.

Sheryl
