...what the fabric they make baby comforters from is called? It's kinda velour but VERY VERY soft and yummy, I want it for a very special project, I'd be very grateful if anyone knows.
Hope this helps !

Minky!! I think the fabric you're referring to is called Minky. At least that's what they call it in the US. It's soft as butter and the swirly stuff is beyond incredible. Why someone hasn't come up with lap quilts for adults out of the stuff is beyond me. I'd by them by the arm loads!!
Warmest bear hugs,

Hi Clare
I too think you are looking for minky. It comes in all kinds of wonderful colours and can be plain , striped, with bubbles etc. I have made baby quilts using it and have also made teddy bears from it

So many thanks to you all, yes I think the minky fabric is what I'm after, I just don't know what on earth they call it here, so will probably buy some from the US. Thank you all again, much appreciated as always.
Hi Clare. Special project, sounds interesting! Do you have an http://www.abakhan.co.uk/ shop near you? They do all sorts of fabric but I have seen this type in there. We have one near to us. I could always check it out for you.
Hi Amanda
No I haven't, wish I did I'd spend a fortnight there non stop for sure! I have had a look at their website, wowser I just got lost, it's because I just can't figure what this fabric is called here.
It's really heavenly soft, I think it's synthetic, I've looked at all Zack's comforter labels and they all say 100% synthetic but I just can't figure it and I've not got a good fabric shop near me at all to have a look. Sooo frustrating!!
Any help highly appreciated
Hi Clare
I don't know if this will help you or not but mink-y fleece type fabric is made from a new 100% polyester micro fibre.

Above is a good source for this fabric in the US

Clare, I think over here we call it microfibre plush. I was looking for the exact same fabric a year ago and asked in a local fabric shop what it's called and they said 'microfibre plush'. I didn't get any of the fabric as I found a different plush to use. I know that BearCountryUK used to stock it but they no longer do bear supplies.
