I posted a thread a few weeks ago asking for ideas for turning my sister's baby from breech position ready for her due date....so I thought I'd post an update ...as I've been missing from TT due to a rather a dramatic 3 weeks....
the baby turned in time but after birth at the end of October, my sister ended up in intensive care as she had an 'amniotic fluid embolism' this is quite rare and is when the amniotic fluid gets into the mother's blood stream and causes respiratory and cardiac collapse and haemorrhaging (she lost 80% of her blood) most mothers die in the first hour. My sister is an older first time mum and has had several years of miss-carriage and then IVF this was her last chance to have a baby and she almost lost her life, but thankfully she stabilised and was moved to critical care where she had daily plasma exchanges however they decided that baby Lucy was healthy and she would have to go home as she couldn't stay in the maternity dept by herself, so I have been in London looking after little Lucy at my sisters, so her partner James could visit the hospital. I had to try and remember what to do with tiny babies as it's been 22 years since my son was born! (Lucy was actually born on my son's birthday!) she was no trouble and an absolute sweetheart.
Anyway the great news is my sister was allowed home this week and reunited with sweet baby Lucy so now they are a family at last!
Here's a pic of 2 week old Lucy with her dad
I now need to catch upon all the wonderful creations on TT!....and make some bears....as when I returned I had the good news that I've been invited to Hugglets in Februaury!....yea!
