It's the eyes.  The pupil is way too tiny so that he looks somewhat rabid.  I love the fur . . . very nice for a bunny.  I would also elongate the muzzle area . . . his face looks a little "smushed".  I don't needle felt, but could that be a solution for the muzzle?

"It's the eyes" - my thoughts exactly! Maybe just use black?
If you don't want to redo the head entirely to elongate the nose you could try trimming the fur on the top of the muzzle area, perhaps doing a bit of needle sculpting to make a bridge making the muzzle area more defined.

Don't worry about not commenting on my bears... a lot was said and all very good suggestions... photos to come!

That bunny has a lot of potential!  I love the fur, but I'm in agreement with what's been said already.  The pupils would look more in proportion -- and less high on cocaine! -- if they were larger.  I'd add upper lids (of course I would, that's my thing!) to reduce any appearance of "bug-eyed-ness" too.

Last, have you given any thought to trimming down the muzzle along the gusset piece?  I mean, from the top of the nose and up between the eyes, gradually tapering into the full mohair length somewhere about eyebrow level?  I think that would do a lot in the way of better defining this bunbun's head shape.

Yep, I don't make the kinda critters that can carry off those eyes. Shame....I love those eyes bear_grin just not right for bunny though.
Well I checked him over with your suggestions in mind and I noticed that those eyes are set at the side. I think new eyes set to face front? and he has hardly any nose at all, poor luv. Since his nose was waxed, I think I should fill in the bridge with needle felting and see if I can give him an actual bunny look. Personally I think he would look good wearing a jumper...but I cant knit..sigh...
I'll pull his head off tonight and see what happens.

I like the eyes, it's funky and different.. but I think the bunny is to plain to pull them off.. I think if you want to keep the eyes you need a darker nose and put some color in the ears.. I think then she can pull off the eyes.. And maybe some darker whiskers. Or just change the eyes and have a more plain bunny. bear_original

If I may..
I just want to say
this thread is wonderful!!!
It was such a great idea and I hope it continues, and grows.
If it really catches on (as I'm sure it will), maybe a new "Misfits" category can be added to the index???  So they'd be easier to find. Just a thought.
We all have them.  Some more than others ..like me!
When I feel well enough, I hope to join in.

PS ..Daphne, thanks for getting this thread started!  bear_original

Melanie - perhaps you could NF some cheeks on him while you are felting? Can't wait to see what you come up with!

Laura - glad you like this thread! I hope more join in. We ALL have misfits and shouldn't be ashamed to show them, even if we've 'gotten better' since we made that misfit, sharing them and offering suggestions for change/improvement is a great learning experience for everyone!!
