FINNEGAN THE SQUIRREL
Debby Cantlon, who plans to release Finnegan, the young squirrel, back into the wild, bottle-fed the infant squirrel after it was brought to her house. When Cantlon took in the tiny creature and began caring for him, she found herself with an unlikely nurse's aide: her pregnant Papillion, Mademoiselle Giselle .
Finnegan was resting in a nest in a cage just days before Giselle was due to deliver her puppies.Cantlon and her husband watched as the dog dragged the squirrel's cage twice to her own bedside before she gave birth
Cantlon was concerned, yet ultimately decided to allow the squirrel out and the inter-species bonding began.
Finnegan rides a puppy mosh pit of sorts, burrowing in for warmth after feeding, eventually working his way beneath his new litter mates.
Two days after giving birth, mama dog Giselle allowed Finnegan to nurse; family photos and a videotape show her encouraging him to suckle alongside her litter of five pups
Now, Finnegan mostly uses a bottle, but still snuggles with his 'siblings' in a mosh pit of puppies, rolling atop their bodies, and sinking in deeply for a nap.
Finnegan makes himself at home with his new litter mates, nuzzling nose-to-nose for a nap after feeding.
Finnegan and his new litter mates, five Papillion puppies, get along together as if they were meant to.
What a wonderful story. There is always room for one more!!!
Wonderful!

That is beautiful ... so lovely to see that and a marvellous way to start my day reading about something happy for a change!
I adore squirrels as we have three that come into our garden most days, constantly searching and burying nuts. They are so funny to watch, spend ages searching for a nut only to go and bury it again about six feet away! So much wasted energy! They should just chill out a little more! We watch them in the field behind us playing around with each other just like kittens, chasing each other round and round the trees and throwing themselves from one branch to another! Better than TV any day!!!
Many thanks for showing such lovely little photos.

Marilyn, were we live you do not see them, my son sees some in the Cape and then I have watched their antics when in the UK.
I have just returned from the dog parlor, my 5 are getting washed and the owner had 3 maltese puppies in the back(8 weeks old) , which I refused to look at as 5 dogs at the moment are enough !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
