About how large a bear do you think I could squeeze from a 12 x 25 piece of fabric?  I'm hoping 8-10" anyway.

Hello Deb

The largest bears I make are 10 inches. I can easily cut the pattern from a 13 x 20'' piece with a bit left over so my guess is that you will be ok.

Yes i agree with Kate - that is enough to make a 10" bears Aleta.

A lot seems to depend on the fatness of the bear - by that i mean a bear with chunky arms and legs takes more mohair than a skinny bear

Let us have a look at the bear when he/she is finished - if there is an arm or leg missing we'll know our advice was a load of rubbish he he he

Hi Deb,
I get a 10" bear out of a fat 1/8 (14x18) so you should be able to do it with your 12x25.  If the pattern has bent legs there might be a problem.

LOL

I've had a couple of disasters where I've been so pleased to squeeze a pattern onto a smallish piece of mohair,  bear_thumb cut all the pieces out and then realised I've missed out something like the gusset.  bear_angry

Worse thing is I didn't have any more of that mohair left and once the pieces were cut I couldn't do anything with them unless I saved up all the mistake cutouts until I eventually had enough to make a multi mohair odd bod bear!

Please tell me I'm not the only one to have done this!

Thanks guys.  I'll make a 2 piece body instead of 4.  That should help too.

Donna ~ Pattern not done yet, so I'll make sure I don't make bended knees.

Penny & Kate ~ My current plan is to have 2 legs, 2 arms, 2 ears.  We shall see!   bear_tongue
