Lizzy Lizard is a blue tongue lizard that lives under our house.
Now that the weather is getting warmer she/he comes out to have a sunbake...
Penny hasn't found her yet...
Denise,
Lizzy lizard is wonderful  Love the beautiful intricate scales! She looks like a fine sculpture.

Cool!!! I met a blue tongue lizzard this summer at a zoo in New York.
Glad there isn't one living under our house though... hubs wouldn't sleep at night! LOL!
Awww! They have just got a pair of blue tongued skinks in at the pet shop I use for my crickets.
They let me hold the male, and he was a lovely little thing!
Hi Denise I have one too and I know when he/she is sun baking my dogs get very excited but don't get to close he/she gets up on the pool coping and we have a bushrock waterfall that he/she likes to sun on to (but not when anyone is in the pool) I think they are really lovely and their tongue is such a great shade of blue. You know when summer is really starting to warm up when they start to come out again.
Hugs
Raewyn
I've got a couple of those guys living around my garden and I also know when they are out and about because my dogs also get excited. I very nearly chopped one up the other day because it made a mad dash for cover as I approached with the grass cutter - had to swing a hard left to avoid him/her - thought I did a pretty smart move on the mower
Oh my goodness, my westie would go NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
What a nice lizard specimen! Have never seen one like that. How big/long is it?
I haven't got close enough to measure him/her but I guess about 12"-30cm.
The fable about the blue tongues is if they happen to bite you a sore will appear every 12 months on the bite sight.
I think that all will happen is the bite may get infectious as their mouths harbor a lot of bacteria.
If they do bite you it means you have gotten too close and they have been annoyed.
Another fable is, if you have a blue tongue in your yard there will be no snakes.
All stories I reckon..
How cool to have such a guest.
I don't have anything living under my house, but this little guy showed up on the porch. He was brought out of hiding by the unusually warm weather we were having. He decided to enjoy a bit of cat food on this warm, rainy evening. I don't think he was too thrilled about having his picture taken.
Yup - I've had those critters in my attic.
Denise, lovely little lizard. I'm sure I'd get used to having a family member of Lizzy Lizard around, I think, in time. Maybe.
Nina, that's a possum, right? I have one, or two, living under my house. We're not too thrilled they've taken up housekeeping there. They are a bit stinky. Okay, more than a bit.
Quiet, though.
Oh my.. lol. They sell those Skinks for hundreds of dollars here at the pet store... That is very funny they are running around there.
Hugs,
Melanie
Possums look kind of scary. We don't have those here either... too cold proably. They are very cute though!
Hugs,
Melanie
Ummmm. Am I the only one that would freak out to see this critter in my back yard!!!
I wouldn't be too keen to see one of those in my back garden but rather one of those than a snake anyday

They just give me the creeps Vicki-I don't know why
We live opposite some woods where we take our dogs for a walk and there are grass snakes and adders so we keep away from there in the summer.I saw a large grass snake this year in the grass and wouldn't go over the woods anymore until I know it is too cold for them to come out
Laurie
Lol i know they aren't eveyone's cup of tea

What a beautiful snake Vicki
I love reptiles, if you can't already tell
Most of the snakes we have in Australia are nasty venom biting critters.
They are all protected though.
Its not like they will chase you to bite you, most times when they have bitten someone it is because they have been cornered and feel threatened.
Beautiful lizards possums and snakes - I like looking at the photos but would not want to meet them.
We have tiny little lizards over here called skinks - they are so beautiful and you often see them scurrying amongst dry leaves.
Their skins camouflage well in the leaves and grass and you have to be so careful you do not step on them.
Hugs
Carolyn
