A US Airways plane made an emergency "landing" in the Hudson River (New York) about 30 minutes ago. My time (CST) would be about 2:45 pm. The preliminary talk is that a bird hit caused the engines to fail. The pilot evidently made a perfect "ditch landing" and the plane is still afloat with passengers waiting on the wings to be rescued. It appears so far that everything needed to make this accident less traumatic than it could have been fell into place. There were many ships in the area that got to the floating plane in very little time, so, hopefully, all those aboard were saved.
I just saw that on the news too. But, they didn't report the fate of the passenger so I was happy to read your post SueAnn. I hope all got our safely.
The pictures they are showing on the Tv of the passengers standing on the wings just blow my mind- such a miracle that everyone has survived (or so they are saying at the moment) Just amazing....
According to CNN: All 150 passengers, 2 pilots and 3 crew members are safe! Cold, perhaps, but safe!! That water must have been freezing!
