Dolls N DreamsDoes anyone know of a link that shows the automatic insurance rates of different countries?
The post office was telling me today that if you ship Priority International to Australia ...the box has an automatic $70 of insurance???
Any info please.....
ALSO.....................
I shipped a SMALL box today to Australia using Priority International and bought insurance of $150...the fee to ship this really small box
was $26.80............she told me First Class was only $10.80 but I could NOT insure on First Class............What do you all use to ship
International?????

Tuppies TeddiesI use air-mail...I know I am dicing with danger but I give the customer the option of insurance...so far none have taken it up and I haven't lost an international parcel YET.
Tami , I hope this may help. You can click on each country and see all the costs/rules etc. I recently discovered the same info on our Canada Post website. Just takes some poking around to find things !
It costs about the same to ship small boxes internationally from Canada too.
White Forest BearsI always ship Priority International with insurance coverage. That way you can tell when it arrived (attempled delivery, when it left the country, etc.) by the customs number (you track it on usps.com like d/c). You have to fill out the big customs form for it, not the little green one, but it's totally worth it for the peace of mind.

everything I got during the holidays shipped with UPS was smashed and torn....
does anyone here ship with UPS and have you had any problems?
White Forest BearsI ship all of our domestic packages via UPS. I can't say a bad word about them. Their customer service is awesome, and things always arrive as scheduled (weather permitting).
The post office on the other hand makes me insane, so I only use them for international shipments. I have years or USPS horror stories for domestic shipments, but for International I've always had good luck.
I also like UPS because I like their website and it's easy to keep track of shipments, billing, etc.

Bears by EdieUPS may be good for shipping within your own country but not so good for shipping internationally. Here in Canada if we get parcels by UPS from the States we get charged huge brokerage fees on them for going through customs - sometimes almost as much as the parcel is worth! The post office is much better for international.
I am always much more inclined to purchase from a US dealer who will ship by First Class International to me if it is a smaller and not too expensive item as it is SO much cheaper. If the postage is $30 or $40 on an item that only cost $20 or $30 it just isn't worth it! Of course on more expensive items a higher postage doesn't matter quite so much.
Little Bear GuyI agree with you Edie, we ship all of our stuff via UPS to the US and rarely do we have a problem. But when it comes the other way we get hit huge with brokerage fees. I'll ship with UPS I just don't want to receive items via UPS :crackup: :crackup: .

A bit late jumping in here... but I will ship first class internationally if I know the person on the other end (repeat collector) on bears under $250. Anything over that though must be insured.
The automatic insurance amount depends on the weight of the item.
I used to do car show portraits and shipped many of those UPS. I had some lost and some damaged via UPS too.
Dolls N DreamsI know the First Class shipping for International packages is a great price...........but you can not insure....wouldnt that be a terrible loss.
