Hi Everyone!
Today I achieved a milestone - I passed my driver knowledge test and earned my 'L' plates to ride a motorcycle!
However, I just want to 'vent' about the rudeness of the woman at the RTA (Roads & Traffic Authority) office when I approached her counter. I had previously booked and paid for my 5pm test online and had arrived at the RTA around 4.40pm, only to be told (quite loudly) that I was too late - the testing closed at 4pm and I would have to come back another time. I politely told her that the online booking system allowed you to book from 8am to 5.30pm - I was then bluntly (still loudly) that it was wrong, so I kindly suggested that she should contact her IT people and let them know their hours were different so the website could be updated. Of course she had an answer for that as well.
I was well and truly 'over' her attitude by then, but her supervisor allowed me to do the test. This rude woman then followed me over to the testing booth and told me that I'd have to hurry as they shut at 5pm - to which I replied 'yes m'am' in a very loud and agitated voice. The rest of the RTA staff chuckled.
6 minutes later (and 100% correct!) I passed the test - I was even out of the RTA BEFORE 5pm! The supervisor said that they had never had anyone do the test that quickly - I said (in a loud voice) that I had been ordered to hurry up, and that's what I did!
Can you even believe such rudeness??? Luckily I have her name, so I'm thinking I might write a letter of complaint - working in customer service myself I found the whole experience extremely intimidating. If I was a younger person I probably would have left quite upset and come back to do the test another time!
So much for 'the customer is always right' at our local RTA office!!! (he! He!)
Marg
Firstly congratulations on passing your driver knowledge test and secondly congratulations on showing that know it all that you knew what you were doing and for standing up to her. Some people have no thought for others and stand there spouting rudeness. I would report her, it's about time some folks learnt they are not always right. I stood up to a guy on Youtube last week as he had a very disgusting video that was definitely not suitable to be there. I reported him to YT and got it removed. I had left him a message telling him what a foul, vile creature I thought him to be so he was able to answer me and I got a really sarcastic email from him via YT. I answered him and I believe it shut him up when I finished my message saying I bet his mother is really proud of him. He never came back with another answer. Good luck with the next part of your test, do let us know how you get on.
Hugs, Jane.
Way to go Marg!!!! On all fronts
I can just see you buzzing around on your bike, soooooo cool!!
Congrats!!! Welcome to the wonderful world of Motorcycles......................
pandamac
Congratulations!!!!
And yes, if I was to only have ONE pet peeve, it would be rudeness.
Hi Marg,
Well done on passing your test, many congratulations!! I agree with Ellen, biking is wonderful! It must have given you immense satisfaction walking past that woman knowing that you had passed despite her rudeness!!!
And to Jane from Doodlebears, , very well done to you Jane for standing up and managing to get rid of that nasty video. There are too many rude and lewd things going on these days. Gggggrrrrr!
Hugs to you both!
Marilyn
Big congrats for passing
I can't stand people like that!
One of the assistants in one of our greetings card shops practically throws your change at you!
Another thing I don't like is when assistants talk about previous customers to their colleages while serving!
I would definitely complain. If we don't complain people like that will just carry on treating people badly.
Anyway, my venting is over!
Hugs, Sarah x
Good for you, Marg!!!! And you, too, Jane!
Congratulations on getting your liscence! I'm sure you'll enjoy riding your motorcycle =P
As for rude people, yuck, ignore them. You should indeed write a letter of complaint, some times the bosses at such entreprises only wait for these to be allowed to fire some of their employees they have issues with.
Anyways, good job on doing the test so quick! Just hope she felt embarassed.
Hey, that's great that you passed with flying colors even though to you were both rushed and being bashed!
It seems that we have people here at our DMV (licensing counters) who are rude, too! I don't know why they sometimes have to be that way because it certainly doesn't make anyone's day happier. Sorry you had such an uncomfortable experience, but happy for you that you got your license.
Congrats Marg!!!
I spent 20 years in customer service/sales and technically still do with my bear biz... so I'm very sensitive and critical of other's customer service skills and know when I'm being mistreated! And it really ticks me off!
Yes, write that letter as it is often the only way some businesses will take any sort of action with such employees. Like Jeanne said, the people at our Department of Motor Vehicles offices here in the states seem to be just as rude.
Totally OT - but YellowZebra - I'm also totally intrigued by your avatar! You MUST tell us more about yourself!
Yours is the first I've ever seen present herself like this.
You simply cannot slip in under the radar with this fantastic set-up and not have us all wondering ~
Actress?
Makeup artist?
Mime?
Street Theater?
Broadway????
Dance Instructor?
Hospice Care?
I smile just looking at these 2 images.
The possibilities are endless and I for one am dying to know.
By comparison, the rest of us have a boring bear & ourself—this blows me away.
If no one else wants to hear, at least email me off list...
Bobbie
CONGRATS on getting your "L" plates!!! Great job! How exciting. And to take it and get 100% under that kind of pressure and frustration....that showed her!

Me too Me too!
I think rude people haven't got bears in their lives!
Clare and Bobbie . . . YellowZebra has introduced herself in the "New Members" forum.
Congratulations Marg! you will be feeling so happy and I wish you well riding and enjoying your motorcycle.
Yes, I would definately write the letter because people can not be rude and should be stopped or otherwise
they will probably do it again.
Hugs
