My best friend of 30 years was quite ill before Christmas, and we didn't get to have our usual visit. She's fine now, thank goodness, and we just had our visit and I was stunned by the gift she made me, to go with our Amish style dining room. It's a miniature hand made Amish quilt, that she framed. Thought you might like to see it.
I have also been playing again - I decided to make a keepsake ornament of my parents (who are both deceased) and I was so pleased with it, I will be making one for each of my parents grandchildren. It was the last picture taken of them together on my dad's 80th birthday. I do love playing with photos.
My daughter has been separated for a while and has asked her ex for a divorce. She has decided it's a new year and she is moving on. She constantly comments that Corson is the only male she needs in her life, for the moment. Her birthday is next week, so I made this brooche for her. I was really happy with the final result.

Hi Brenda,
I'm glad your friend is feeling better! I love the goodies you made. My personal favorite is the one you made with Corson's picture. Is that made with clay and metallic powders? It looks like stamped metal so I'm not really sure.
The mini quilt is such a lovely gift from your friend. WOW! Lucky you!! I tried to make a miniature quilt once. Once. Never again. And I do mean never.
Warmest bear hugs,

Hi Aleta,
Yes, I would never, ever make a miniature quilt either - in fact, quilting is not for me, period LOL! I did make one small one as a couch throw, but once was enough for me.
You are correct - the brooch with Corson is done with clay and mica powders - it is amazing the effects you can get and Is it ever fun! I have been stock piling altered art things for about 5 years, waiting to get inspired by a project and this one is it. I bought a Stamp Press for making frames etc, with clay and had never used it, but I christened it for this project and I can see it getting VERY addictive, especially when I can use it with my love of old photos. I used a sheet of mica to cover Corson's picture, instead of glass. You can incorporate so many different things, the name "mixed media" is really appropriate.

Hello Brenda,
The quilt from your friend and your keepsake presents are a lovely idea ! I'm sure they'll be treasured! I like the technique you used for Corson's picture, I've never heard of this before.
Hugs Ginie-Lee.
Great treasured items, Brenda! Oooh, I love quilting. I quilted wall hangings for all my family members as Christmas gifts and am now working on a quilted checkerboard for my sister's and BIL's birthdays. Your altered art is lovely - that Corson is a cute little guy.
Thanks Sue Ann and Ginnie-Lee. Trying something new is always exciting, especially when it turns out the way you hoped it would.
hugs,
Brenda
