I think I gave you the You Tube link earlier this month, to an H&R ad that the boy across the street - Jim Callahan, now living in LaLa Land CA - has had running. H&R pulled it in the past week, as they'll be premiering a new one during the Super Bowl tomorrow.

But we hear from Jim's family that he'll be in a Pepsi ad - during the game 'Sometime' - so you we'll have our eyes glued to our sets, watching for our favorite red-headed Irish kid, Elmhurst's own --- Jimmy Callahan !!!!

In the H&R ad he had a small beard and looked a little scruffy (you know, like every other 25 yo blue collar guy...) and was asking the girl what she was doing, trying to rappel up to the second story balcony at night to get her W-2 forms - and then the rappeling gun goes off....

Talking of Super Bowl...one of our ex Australian Footballers is playing for one of the teams involved.

His name is Ben Graham...don't know which team though...

Well, let's hope YOUR 'hometown' boy does well, as he has indeed gone on to be in one of the Playoff teams, from my SIL's newly-adopted hometown (10 miles away in Phoenix AZ)

"Riches await Australian Ben Graham if he stars in the Super Bowl+
By Carly Crawford
February 01, 2009
RICHES await Australia's Ben Graham if his Arizona Cardinals can take the Vince Lombardi trophy at Monday morning's (EDT) Super Bowl in Tampa Bay.  (I suppose this would be Monday in 'Oz" time!!)

Sports agents say if NFL convert Graham shines on America's biggest sporting stage, he could be in line for major sponsorship deals and could tell his club to "show me the money".

Graham, a former Geelong captain, could pocket a $15,674-a-game pay rise plus six-figure endorsement deals if the Cardinals can upset the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It would be a dramatic turnaround for the 35-year-old, who was cut from two teams three times last year.

In 2006, Graham signed with the Jets on a six-year $10 million contract but was twice released last September.

He joined the New Orleans Saints but was released a week later. The Cardinals signed him in December for $75,235 a game and he has become the first Australian to play in the Super Bowl.

Integrated Sports Management boss Richard de Luca, based in Florida, said Graham was not yet a big name in American football, but that could change with a stellar performance.

"If he was to win, there'll be a financial upside to it," de Luca said. "It's probably worth a 20 per cent increase in terms of his overall salary.

"Teams like having Super Bowl players on their team - especially winners - because it helps morale and gives younger players something to aspire to."

De Luca said the average salary for an NFL player was $1,567,400, while less experienced players command between $470,220 and $548,590.

Dr Lynn Rashbrook, of Sports Management Worldwide, said McDonald's, Coke and Pepsi were among the big corporations that looked to cash in on prominent players. "If you do well in the Super Bowl, Weeties will call and put you on the box," he said.

Attracting 100 million viewers, the game itself is a massive money spinner - television advertising space sells for $156,740 a second, or $4.7 million for a 30-second spot during the game.

The biggest earner in the NFL is New York quarterback Eli Manning, last year's Super Bowl most valuable player who is reportedly on the cusp of securing a $23.5 million-per-season deal with the Giants.

Sportsearch boss and former player agent Mark Trudi says national deals with carmakers, clothing lines and hotel chains after the game can earn an athlete between $150,000 and $200,000.

Forbes magazine says the average value of an NFL team is $1.5 billion, up from $451.4million a decade ago.
