Thank you Catherine! You were so fortunate! What I wouldn't have given for a horse at 14! But we never lived long enough in one place or had the space or income to take proper care of one. And then I had three children! Now that my youngest is 5 1/2, she is old enough to let me have my own time with the horses & oh boy is she ever excited about them!
Melisa,
Your horses are beautiful! How wonderful that you rescued them and gave them a great home. I liked a quote I saw that said something like, "you can't change the world by saving an animal but you can change the world for that animal." We have a rescue dog.
 Hi Chrissie... that's a wonderful quote! Thanks for sharing it.
Beautiful horses. They are lucky you came along.
 Thank you Marlys... they get even more beautiful to me each day!
I bet they do get more beautiful to you everyday. And they probably grow healthier and happier everyday, too.
awww they are so pretty and sweet. The world need more people like you in it to help the animals.
Hi Michelle... it's amazing how helping these animals is helping me. I think I'm getting more fit every day - it also gets me out of the house more!
I have to share a story. Does prove that I am slightly around the bend, but we between friends, right??? I had my two horses (previous post) and was going through a really tough time with ex husband and had to return to court. Was a horrible day but during the lunch break I went down to the street and there was a police man on a horse. I stopped him. Now this poor man being confronted with a sniveling red eyed mad woman had no idea what was coming and looked understandably worried. i just wanted to smell his horse..... That done I could go back and face the rest of the day. I think perfume manufacturers have missed out on the therapeutic qualities of "eau de equine"
Good Story!!
I don't think it's wierd in the least.
But this comes from a person who likes the smell of puppy breath!!
Carolynn, I TOTALLY understand what you mean, I used to just put my arms around my horse's neck and smell - it is heaven to a horse lover - others probably think I'm crazy too
Hugs
Catherine xx
Carolynn...that's a wonderful story. I agree... even the smell of horses is therapeutic. Half the time I'm with the horses I'm taking the deepest breaths I can to get all that amazing horse smell. There's nothing in the world like it!
I don't think it's strange to smell the horses. Although I don't have horses, I always check on my son (who just turned one) before I go to sleep and I especially like how he smells. And sometimes my dog smells ok too.
Hi Chrissie! I know what you mean - when my children were babies I loved their smell too!
They are very lucky to of found you.... and well done on fullfilling your dream especially one that makes such a difference to this world!!!!!
I hope everyone enjoys seeing the updated photos. These horses are still such a joy to me even though I haven't been able to ride since my injury this summer. Hopefully next year will be a better riding year!
they are beautiful, I'm so happy for you!
Thank you Tami!

Thanks for the photos, Melissa.
They really look brilliant. This is obvious they are given all the love and care they need. They are beautiful.
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
Wow Melissa!! They look fabulous. They have obviously thrived with your TLC
      You have done a wonderful job with them!
Thank you! Having my own horses is definitely a learning curve... I knew they would be expensive to take care of and more so since we only have a small acreage. But they really have responded well to being here. Savanna is such a pocket pony - she'll follow us everywhere. She also loves to stand around a campfire. When we have one in the back in the winter, she will stand right beside it warming one side and then the other.
Oh, they are so beautiful, Melisa! How wonderful that they get to live with you now, where they'll be loved and cared for. Such a dream come true!
