There has been a wildfire burning on the outskirts of the city (Halifax) here since yesterday. 8 home were totally destroyed and several more damaged. 1200 people have been evacuated. We are hoping the forecasted rain starts soon so the firefighters can get this under control. Thank God no one has been hurt so far !!
I took some photos last night, it is quite a sight I did wake up at 3am to the smell of smoke as my window was partly open. Thankfully I live across the harbour out of any danger. I feel for those directly affected though
my goodness Tammy, that is terrible, I do hope that rain comes quickly and I am relieved to hear you are safe, my thoughts are with all the others affected by this, it must be so scarey.
Take Care
Hugs

I heard about this on the weather network (haven't listened to the news in a few days) That's crazy! It's been wet enough, hasn't it? How did this fire start? I'm glad you are ok, but what a terrible thing for the people that lost their homes! Thanks for sharing the pictures.
Fingers crossed that rain will come soon to help the firefighters. Wildfires are so awful . . . a recent one in our area killed three people and destroyed one whole town and part of another. So glad you are safe.
Angela, it has actually been dry and sunny here recently. They are staying it is was a brush fire from the previous day that was extinguished. Yesterday it sparked again and the strong wind caused it to spread rapidly. Speculation is that all the uncleared, dead trees from Hurricane Juan in 2003 are fueling the fire. Who knows really. Thankfully the rain started this afternoon and is helping I hope. You can really smell the smoke in the air today.
Sue Ann that is so awful when lives are lost. I just hate fire, it is so scary and unpredictable.
I saw that on the news last night... yikes! That is so scary! I'm glad you are safe too!
Hi Tammy,
That is so scary, when the smoke from the wildfires is so close. I hope they get them under control soon.
Good to know that there is a distance apart.
Hugs

Oh my goodness...my heart goes out to you all. Fire is just soooo....................no words to describe it...way too scary.
I hope and pray by now the fires are under control. I feel so sorry for those who have been affected by the fire, I hope nobody has been injured.
Hugs, Jane.
I hate the thought of fires and I feel for those affected by them. Southern California sees wildfires all the time, though they've never been so close to us. My thoughts are with those affected by the fire.
Hi Tammy
I'm so sorry to hear about this. I am glad you are okay
