Hi girls...

'Slickery'...not sure if that is a word, but it sure describes the joints on my mink bear.
I have them on a lock nut joint...locked as tight as I can get them and still the joints feel loose, because the mink is so slick.
Has anyone else had that problem and maybe an solution to the problem?  Poor little 'fella' can hardly sit up.
Appreciate any advice here!!!

That's strange. I have used mink with lock nuts and set screws and with lock nuts and bolts and both worked well for tight joints. Just a thought, though. Stupid me once forgot to add a disc to the joint inside the body and it took me a while to figure out why the joint was so loose. You didn't do that, did you? No, nobody is that stupid, but me.  bear_wacko
Try cutting the fur from the joint. We had a thread on that recently.

Hope you find out what's the problem.

Thanks so much Sabine for your suggestions.
I know that the disc's are in place.  I think I will take the bear back apart and try your idea about cutting the fur back.  I never had this problem with the tiny ones I have made, but this bigger bear is a whole different story.
I am sure when some of the fur is removed, I can lock the nuts down tighter.
I haven't been on for quite some time, so I didn't see the thread about this.  I will go look.
Thank you again!

Nancy, I know this can't be the reson, but the only time I have way tooo loose a joint using bolts is when I forget a disc-usually in the body.  I can't understand why you are having the problem.  I find I have to back off two turns, just so the bear can move is arm at all....good luck, I hope you come up with an idea that will help......

when all else fails what about a wee bit of graphite in the joint......well only if it is a dark bear.....maybe not.......better not......golly I hope someone has an idea.

Hi Dilu...After you and Sabine both made the suggestion about the disc's...I am definitely going to take it apart.
Right now I am in the middle of giving myself a VERY stinky body perm  (phew, the worst I have ever smelled and it is supposed to be an aromatherapy perm...Aura from Sally's)  so I don't want to touch the bear for a little while.
This mink is so slick.  I have a lot of mink left from when I made  mink mini's for a while and thought I would use it up on some bigger bears.
Thanks for your help Dilu.

Just one more thing to try....make sure the rough side of the hardboard disc is up against the fabric...it offers more 'resistance' than the smooth side....
