Hi all. I am hoping somebody may have a bit of knowledge about wide screen monitors. My original monitor crashed a few days ago. I only had it about almost 2 years and I went to pc world to get another today, they all seemed to be wide ones, got it home and installed it and I was shocked to see all the bears are fat and short, on my website, the ones I have on Ebay, then I come on here and everyone's in the gallery look same. I looked in "my pictures" on my computer and they are all the same.
I am also wondering if everyone has these wide screens, then how are collectors seeing our bears, short and fat or normal and also now when I edit pictures of new bears using this wide screen how do I make them look as if I make them look normal then are they then going to look long and thin on collector's screens. I am really worried, how does everybody else go on with this problem?
Hugs
Pauline

Sounds like the resolution your monitor is set to use is too low -- you could try increasing it by looking at you "Display properies" which you can find in your control panel somewhere. Not having used windows in years though, I couldn't tell you much more than that.
Once you'be got that solved though you should be OK -- wide monitors doesn't mean "wide pictures" in that sense. :)

Hello Pauline,
Malko there.
Thomas is right - Whatever the screen you should get the same picture.
Did your new monitor come with a CD or something? If yes try to install the stuff on this CD: it must countain what's needed to solve your problem. Then go to "display properties" with right-clicking an empty part of your desktop screen, and select any resolution you want (1280 x 720 for example). Then click OK and your problem should be solved.
Friendly,
Malko.
Dear Thomas and Malko (Malko hello how nice to hear from you)
Thank you so much for your replies. I didn't realise it could be the computer settings, I have just been trying to adjust the monitor. Now I will try and have a go at adjusting the computer resolution like you suggest. Hopefully this will resolve the problem.
Malko yes I did get a CD with it, Alan did try it and we are wondering if it is installed correctly, didn't realise it had to be set on the computer. You remember Alan and I are not too good with the computer insides!
Thank you Thomas and Malko

Thomas,
No Windows??? Be there another Linux user on this forum?
Pauline,
If you do not get this fixed, please email me privately. I will have my husband, aka the guru, try to help you out. He usually talks people through things over the phone, but since you are across the pond, I can see if he can help via email.
Hugs,
Alison

+1
I don't do Windows either. Anything but...
Go into your display properties control panel and check your settings.
I don't know which exact setting will be the one for you but it's in there somewhere. Don't be afraid to tinker. There's not a lot you can do to mess it up.
When you make a change, the system asks you to confirm your settings. If you don't confirm in 15 seconds, the display reverts to the old settings. Thus, if you make a wrong setting, just leave it alone for 15 seconds and it will go back to the way it was.
Hint: If you keep a pencil and a piece of paper handy you can make notes to yourself as you work. Every time you try a resolution setting... 600 X 800... 1024 X 768... 1280 X 720... etc., etc. you can mark it down. That way you don't spend time retracing your steps, trying and retrying settings that don't work.
It lowers the frustration level just a bit.

Thank you so very much, I made it   . We did try the disk/cd but as it said Vista only on there and we are running an XP computer we stopped. I then went into the control panel like you all mentioned (very scary in there). I saw a slide panel for the resolution and moved it up and down a little, it changed the numbers and I kept doing this until it looked normal and oh relief!!!...... the bears look pretty again   .
Thank you once again for coming to my rescue, you are all lovely, Teddy Talk is wonderful!

Pauline,
Glad you got everything working properly.
Thomas,
I told my husband that you contribute for Linux. His reply, "Great, now I have to join Teddy Talk!" I'll just refer him to your website. Perhaps he'll email you and you guys can talk geek.
