I've seen this on ebay and saw a TTer talk about it in a post. I have no idea what it stands for? Can someone please enlighten me? Thank you.
Hi Chrissie It stands for "One-Of- A-Kind" It should mean that this is the only bear the artist will make that will look exactly like this.
Yup, that's it. Thanks, Shari!
I started my first auction on E-bay and
I just learn that my bears were OOAK.
Isn't that cool ? OOAK Oh, Oh, Are you oK?

I didnt know you sold on ebay, Marie
Back in one of my first forages through eBay, way back when.... i think I was looking at vintage Toni Dolls for my Mom... I ran across a listing that said OOAK in the title. I thought it might mean Old Oak....! I love oak!
Oh... here's a question that I'd love to have answered... When I was looking through a British bear magazine a while back I think that I saw the term, 'one off.' It was refereing to the same thing.... just like a OOAK.... I can understand 'one of,' being short for maybe 'one of five,' or 'one of one.' What does 'one off' mean? Maybe I'm remembering wrong and it did say 'one of....' Anyway, I did understand the meaning to be the same as when we say OOAK, but I just didn't understand the meaning behind it?
Anyone?
Beary truly yours,

Hi Kim, you are quite right that "one off" means One of a Kind - also if something happens once, you would say it was a "one off event"... but silly me I don't know the meaning behind - like so many things - it's a phrase I use and don't know why I'm sure someone here will know.. many of us British people here.
Hugs
Catherine
Thanks! Now I feel like I'm in the know!
