Hi, I have never made a bear from real fur before but have just bought several peices of vintage mink and rabbit fur, and was wondering how are the best ways to do the nose on a fur bear. I always embroider noses but is this suitable for fur? Any suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciated  bear_original

The one and only time I used real fur I used an inset muzzle because the backing on the fur was very fragile but also quite rigid and it not only gave the face a much neater finish but I could then embroider a nose.  Nancy Tillberg uses leather I think on her fur bears.

It is very tricky to make noses for real fur. I trim the nose area  where I will be stitching and tape back the fur around the area so it does not get caught in my stitches.
