Hi guys and gals,
Not only do I love teddy bears, but I also love ... books (not very cuddly, I know, but sometimes you will catch me hugging a book  ).
So I am always on the lookout for books about teddy bears. I love browsing sites like Amazon and I came across two new books that I wanted to share with you.
John J. Lamb will be a familiar name to many of you. He has written several "Bear Collector's Mysteries" such as "The Mournful Teddy", "The clockwork Teddy", "The Crafty Teddy" and "The False-hearted Teddy". Now there is a new book in the series called "The Treacherous Teddy".
I love reading these little teddy-bear related detective stories before going to bed. The plot centers around Brad Lyon, a retired police officer, and his wife Ashleigh, a teddy bear artist. Although retired, Brad always gets involved in solving a crime that somehow relates to a teddy bear. I haven't read this one yet, but I certainly will.
The second book I found is called "Teddy Bear Annual 2010" by Kathy Martin, who will be familiar to most of you as well. "Everything you need to know about your favourite teddy bears and more". The book is due to appear on November 19th and I am definitely getting my copy of this one as soon as it comes out. However I don't recall there being a 2009 Teddy Bear Annual, so I think this is a new initiative by Kathy, which can only be applauded. The lovely bear on the front cover is one of Paula Carter's and I think he's called "Morris" (correct me if I'm wrong Paula), so I'm hoping I will find lots of TT'ers mentioned in this annual.
If any of you know of good teddy bear books, I am always interested to hear more. Next time I will write some more about the new Winnie-the-Pooh book.
Hugs,

Oh those mystery books sound very cool, must see if I can hunt some down!
Thank you, Peter, for the book news. Yes, Lamb's mysteries are really popular here in the US. I have the first three, but haven't followed up on the others. And Kathy's book looks nice . . . talk about a great cover!!
Thanks for passing this info on Peter. I feel like I have been missing out on the Lamb books, they sound right up my street The Bear Annual looks good too - great bear Paula
Hugs Ali
Thank you Peter, for sharing your Teddy bear book news with us - I look forward to seeing these books.

Aaahh just what I need more fuel for my addictions! Not only do I love bears but I also love reading. Peter, I have a book that may interest you (actually I have 2 of them so may be able to do a deal) - it is called Teddy's World and it is by Mirja De Vries. It is a large, almost coffee table book with heaps of pictures of Teddy Bears I don't really know how else to describe it but it is one of my favourites. It has pictures of things like very old teddies on outings to art galleries and beach parties, picnics etc. It is very humourous and has some fold out pages that give you a wonderful montage of bears. There is very little writing in it as the pictures tell the story. Most of the bears are vintage and there is a place for the tattiest looking teddies in there. It really is a magnificent book. If anyone is interested in buying a copy let me know butI only have the one spare and postage may be expensive due to size and weight.
Oh my goodness!!!!!! I had no idea the annual was being promoted yet!!!!! Yes Peter, it's your Morris on front cover ... what a little star!

Thank you Clare for the tip; however ... I have this beautiful book myself. Mirja De Vries is a wonderful photographer who has been making beautiful teddy bear photographs for as long as I can remember. Every book with her photo's is a real treasure. She has a beautiful 2010 diary and calendar as well. I take the diary with me to work and get some funny looks when I open it during one of the bank's boring meetings  .

Paula, do you remember that Morris was the last to get adopted from your "Gathering Bears in May" webshow? We called him Cinderfella, because he was waiting for his prince (me ) to adopt him before midnight. Morris is so proud to have his picture on the front cover, he asked me to order several dozens of copies of the book to give to his friends.

I do remember Peter! It's funny the way things turn out isn't it?! He was my favourite show bear and now he needn't take any more teasing from the other bears for being the last to find a new owner at the show!
Yes, I also love John Lamb's Teddy Bear Mystery series. Nice to know there's a new one out! Thanks!
