My daughter wants me to make her an Anime bear for Christmas and I have only made one of these critters before. I had a pattern that I bought at a fair a while back but I can't find it. I've spent ages looking for it but it eludes me. Can anyone help me find a pattern. I could probably find one on a Japanese website but I don't know how to find one.

There are loads of Japanese bear-making books on ebay...don't type Anime in the search though....just put 'Japanese bear making book'...something like that.
There'll be anime bear galore in them...

Apologies if this comes up twice...I still don't know how to fix it...

14.jpg04.jpgJane, I have a lot of books I haven't use them but I love to keep all I find in the internet! That's why I'm Plushkin!! bear_rolleyes

I designed my anime bear and I think there are couple "secrets" or hints to make your traditional teddy look like anime.

1. Make gusset much wider in the forehead area.

2. Make the head pattern with no chin. Just a curve line from nose to the neck.

It's easir with the body. You can do it any way you like.

Here's some pictures from books I have.

Jane, I just emailed you another little bear out of the same book,
you'll have to enlarge it.

No I won't post any patterns. I'll do better. I have a password for the mailbox. It's a mailbox full of books ready to download( teddy bears, stuffed toys, dolls, doll's clothes and etc).

Feel free to ask for password through PM.

Jane,

Some time ago I purchased an Japanese/Anime Style Bear booklet from Brys Bruins...very nice lady by the way.  Anyway...she suggests taking your own pattern and either enlarging the head by 15% or reducing the body/limbs by 15%.  The key to anime style bears is the exaggeration of some of their features....bigger eyes, smaller ears, etc.

Just an idea...

Hi Jane
Brys  Bruins is in the UK and she gives you permission to make and sell patterns from her designs as long as you give her credit  Her web site is www.brysbruins.com  If you contact her you can most likely purchase her book on Japanese and anime bear design
