Alison, How fun is that?? You got your husband to put on pantyhose!!! Everyone looks so great, your daughter the perfect Dorothy. Your son, I really have to give it to him, I have seen him in a feather boa, and now an old man. What a personality he is, seems like maybe an actor's life for him.
I did not partake in any festivities, my daughter went out with her friends, they are the teenagers people hate to see show up at the door, because they are to old to be trick or treating. They made the boys dress up as girls, it was a makeup party at my house, the boys looked lovely beards and all.

Joanne,
My daughter just turned 16 this week and she said one house wouldn't give her candy. I told her that probably thought she was the old man's mom. She's 5'10" and looks all grown up. I never mind the teen agers trick or treating as long as they are in costume. Kids grow up too fast anyway. I say you can trick or treat until you graduate from high school. We played bunco and another dice game called Farkle in the house and handed out candy. This was one of our monthly game nights that we have with our friends. We have a pot luck, play cards, dice or board games. Kids are always welcome and get to play with the adults now that they are all older. They used to have their own table and play Sorry or Go Fish. It's the big night out for our family.

Alison, what wonderful pictures and it sounds like you had a fun night. When we were younger and had all the kids home we use to all have costumes and a big party. What Fun!!!
We not only dressed up, we threw a big Halloween/Poker Party. Everyone was strongly encouraged to dress in costume.....and they all did!! It was soooo much fun, we're doing it again next year!!
Your costumes are fabulous and so creative!!
Warmest bear hugs,

If it's an older kid taking their little brothers and sisters around Trick-or-treating, we give them a break.
Dragging your brothers and sisters around the neighborhood isn't a lot of fun for a teenager who would probably rather be out with their friends. They deserve some kind of reward.
If it's an older kid who is wearing a costume that took effort to make, they get a break too.
If they just do something stupid like throw on a football jersey and slop some paint on their faces, we just give them the minimum. If they complain we just tell them to go somewhere else.
Kids from the neighborhood who we know usually get candy if they are well behaved. They usually do behave because they know we can call their parents if they act up.
Volunteer firemen or cops usually do drive-bys in our neighborhood at least once per night.
If they stop on our corner we usually toss them a Snickers bar or something.
They're working extra hours so the kids will be safe. They deserve a little treat once in a while!
Aleta you crack me up!! You look like a teenager!!
Did anyone refuse to give you any candy?
Cindy,
No one refused me any candy. All us adults ate freely from the bowl from which we were handing out! We had a really good time, as usual!
Hugs,
Alison
Check it out! You guys are awesome! Your son's make-up is fabulous. It looks like it was done professionally!
Love everyone's costumes! I love dressing up. Our son Scott was a fisherman, our dog a lobster, DH was Poseidon and I was supposed to be Poseidon's wife. We just dressed DS up on Halloween b/c it was too hot to wear our costumes. DH and I were supposed to go to a party a week earlier but to wear our costumes but I got sick and couldn't go so I'll save mine for next year.
