Hi everyone!

I'm interesting of using Loc-Line.

Can I use the Loc-Line without the X or Y
connector ?  I want to use the Loc-Line with
Joint bear and want to use for arms and legs. 

I searched  everywhere in the net  for *How to use*
but I couldn't find out...  :rolleyes:

I haven't used loc-line before...but I wanted to tell you how cute your avatar is! The diamonds are a really special touch and your bears is so cute!:cool:

Marie,   I use Loc-line in the arms of my bears without using the x or y joints.  What you do is this:

Take a nail and heat it up over a candle.  Hold the nail with pliers or vice grips so as to not burn your hands.  I prefer vice grips.

Press the heated nail into the end of the loc-line to create a hole. all the way through.

Use a long cotter pin and insert into the hole and then into the disc.  Wella!  It is very easy and then you can joint the arm as you would with a cotter pin.

Have any of you found reasonable sources for LocLine? I want to try it, but it's so expensive!

Has anyone tried the doll armature similar to LocLine such as this- http://www.artistique.us/index.php?category=7 ? it looks similar, but I have no idea how sturdy it is. (by the way, this site also has special joints to use with the armature.)

I won an ebay auction awhile back for a bunch of connectors, but have lost all the hose auctions:(

Hi Marie,

I don't use locline... and this is not about loc line ... but it IS about making armatures with stuff you can get at the hardware store (but only the arms and legs)

Judi, Thank you soooooooooo much for

making a hole in Loc-Line
I printed out your post and filed in my *secret* book.

I have used Kris's method to armature bears too...works a treat!:D

   They are all so wonderful and I understand that

I ordered some Loc-Line, but couldn't figure it out either. But I CAN heat a nail.

I've got the electrical connection thingies too--is there some sort of gauge or other ID on the wire? The stuff I bought was too floppy.

Also, when you use armatures in a bear, how do you stuff? I think I overstuffed, trying to cover the armature. The arms are bendable, but they're too fat. Or do you just make thinner arms?

Hello everyone !

Eileen, I still not tried Loc-Line yet but I was told to use
Quilt cotton(the cotton in the quilt)   to wrap Loc-Line. I also never did
quilting before so I have to look up for
that one too... sorry for small information !

The Loc Line is plastic and durable, so it won't poke holes in the fabric like wire can. And it's much more poseable. I've seen people do lovely things with it.

It's pretty simple but the pay's lousy...all you need to do is visit my site...ohhhh...ten or 15 times a day...each time signing my guestbook with a different alias, and each time commenting on what a wonderful artist I am blah, blah, blah.

I finally got 'round to checking the website crisw (sorry, I don't know your name!)suggested ( www.artistique.us/index , and it offers one-eighth inch loc-line (!!)  at $1.50 a foot. Unless I missed it, Edinburgh didn't offer that size when I last ordered.

Anyway, the 1/8inch looks exactly like the larger loc-line, and I can't see why it wouldn't be as strong. The standard doll armatures I've seen in craft stores look more like the pop-beads people wore in the 50s--not strong.

The website mentions that this stuff can be used for all sorts of applications, including small aquariums :/
Which makes me wonder if it might be available from a place like Home Depot or Lee Valley at a somewhat lower cost. I've got a grey drill extender thingy that's made of the same stuff.

Good thoughts, Eileen, but I can't imagine how that stuff would be used for an aquiarium, or drill extender, for that matter, not that it is important.  I will look for it in my area.
