For Christmas, I got a fantastic gift from Malko's oldest sister & her hubby.

Look!

They found it in an antique's or garage sale and I love it to bits.  bear_wub  bear_wub  bear_wub  bear_wub  bear_wub  bear_wub  bear_wub  bear_wub We already have an idea about where to hang it.

It looks like it was handpainted. I had a search on google to try to find out some information about it but the only place where I found it is a marketplace for antiques : a website in Netherlands.
Never mind, it is sooooo beautiful!  bear_wub  bear_wub  bear_wub  bear_wub  bear_wub  bear_wub  bear_wub  bear_wub

Beary hugs,
Sophie.

That is soooo beautiful, Sophie.  bear_thumb  It's so nice to see that Malko's sister and her husband really wanted to give you something special.   bear_thumb

I also googled the name "Hanson Toys" and got the same result as you : the text doesn't give you any explanation about its origins or its age, but it does say that it has a red stamp on its back.  Maybe yours  has one as well ?  And the painting of the bear and the background is different as well, so it could be handpainted.

Wouldn't it be fun to start a little private investigation about its origins  bear_laugh  ??

Hugs,

There is absolutely no marking at all in the back of the board : it is fully painted in black with nothing to let us think there used to be anything more.

Comparing the paintings, the one on the nl market place is slightly different : different background and different bear. different ribbon around the neck of the bear too.

Here are the photos from that nl market place :

On the front we clearly see the different layers of painting composing the picture.

It clearly is a bit old, but difficult to age it... Tears are mostly on the frame itself; the "picture" is in very good condition.

So its origin is quite mysterious.

All I know is that this painted bear is gorgeous.

Beary hugs,
Sophie.

What a great gift Sophie! :)
I bet yours was hand painted for someone special which makes it even more valuable as far as I'm concerned.
Someone put a lot of time and effort in it for someone special and now it has been passed on to you.  bear_wub
