Well, we are getting ready to head off to Camp Borden. Ontario.  Today's the day that hubby carries the Olympic Torch and the weather is supposed to be -17 degrees!   We all have lots of extra warm clothing so fingers crossed that we stay warm.  Hope to take lots of pictures to share.

                                          hugs,

                                          Brenda

You're taking a Bear with you?  Right?   bear_grin

Even if the Bear can't run with him, you must take a Bear along with you to watch!  You absolutely must!   bear_thumb

Then, after you have all the important stuff, make sure you pack a camera!  We want to see a picture!

And figure out a way to get a Bear into at least one picture!   bear_whistle    bear_grin  bear_tongue

Thanks, everyone.  We are home and exhausted.  It was amazing - lots of excitement and emotion.  It was  VERY COLD, but we survived, but our camera batteries are dead from the temperature, so we will sort through all the pictures in the next day or so and post some of them.  We had three people taking photos and one video camera.

We learned a lot - this is the largest and longest torch relay in the history of the Olympics.  12,000 torch bearers!  They had to get special permission from the Olympic committee to extend the relay over 100 days, which has always been the mandatory time frame.  Ours will be 106 days and today was day 61.  We feel very honoured that Neil was one of only 100 people who were gifted their torch by Coca Cola.  I'm sure the other sponsor, Royal Bank of Canada has gifted some as well, but the rest of the runners had to buy their torches for $400.00  (and who in the world wouldn't want to keep the torch!)  Our grandson is already planning the places he wants to show it off - school, hockey, neighbours - it will be a traveling torch for sure LOL!

Jane, we were actually glad it was on the base - I feel so badly for the gal in Guelph that was knocked down by protesters, and the few people that didn't get to run in Toronto because of them.  I'm off to bed - I still have my thermal underwear on - can't seem to warm up :o)

                                 hugs,

                                 Brenda

Hope you thaw out soon!  Sorry to hear about the protesters though, they always seem to target the easy option rather than the ones that could do something about whatever they're complaining about  bear_angry
