Dear TT-friends - I would need your help please!!!

Actually I'm creating a new dragon - as material I use to do it with some nice Mini-Velvet like Longpile (and others), as I wanted to do some colour-points I used the airbrush-copic-system - but oh what I'm looking like now???? I'm looking like Mary Poppins best friend - the chimney-sweaper as I used black copic-colour.

Can you now help me and tell me, how can I fix the colour on this material - I just put it into the oven - but it didn't work!!!!!

I'm still black as a chimney-sweaper - hihihihi

thanks for your quick help - and certainly I will post some pics as soon as the dragon is finished

Andrea do you have the blender marker? We use the copic system all the time and found the blender marker really helps to clear up mistakes or to lighten the colour. We rarely use black as we find it very harsh on most colours, we tend to us a lighter grey or darker grey as it's not so hmmmm dark LOL.  If you have already heat set it then the chances are that you won't be able to remove the colour now, you may try going over top of it with another colour to try and lighten it up.

hugs and hope it turns out

I've never worked with copic, but I have used the Sharpie markers a lot.  These markers are alcohol based, as many art markers are.  I have found that  using 91% alcohol (not rubbing alcohol, though in a similar bottle, it will say 91%) and then wet a corner of a white cotton towel or something with the alcohol and then just start working it slowly, rubbing, and the color will usually lighten...  Check and see if the copic pens are alcohol based, if they are give it a go, though even if the copics are not alcohol based try this anyway, as alcohol works wonders on many thing....

I've used alcohol on many different fabrics and have never had any issues with it damaging anything, so you really don't need ot worry about that.

Dear Shane and dear Kelly,

I think I didn't explain myself very well. Let me try it once again:

I work with Mini-Velvet (a kind of LongPile) in the colours red and brown and I did some shading with the Airbrush-Systems from Copic with the colour black. Now during my working (as I coloured the pieces before sewing them) the colour gets on my fingers and I'm so black.

I would like to have some advice, how to FIX the colour, but not how to lighten or to remove it. I just want to fix it, so if anybody later on would like to take the dragon in his hands - he won't look like me ....... black hands

Please please can anybody help me!!!!

Thank you so much

I use a blow dryer for the hair to set the color.  You may have it on too heavy if the color did not set in the oven.  Try the blow dryer set on high.  Hold your hand behind or to the side of the piece you are setting the color.  You will want it so hot that it is uncomfortable for you to hold your hand there.  Then take a paper towel and gently rub the area where the color is.  Keep this up until there is no longer color on the paper towel.
Hope this helps.

Donna I will try it out - thank you so much - in the meantime my dragon is finished - and my fingers are all black. I'm glad this is not a toy, and I hope that if ever anyone would like to give a new home to this funny little guy, he won't cuddle him so not to get to much black - hihihihi

will post some pics as soon as I have a good light to make some pics!!!! Thanks for your help all bearfriends here!!!!

I agree with Karen, we use the hairdryer to set our copic markers and haven't had any problems. It could be that it is on very heavy and sometimes it makes it really hard for setting.

good luck
