Tami, In my early years I worked with Jim Henson-Muppet toys and designed the Pee Wee Herman toys. I know all about child-safe toys and have made some of my cats child-safe for customers.

Most manufacturers make child safe bears. Manufactured bears are typically made with safety eyes and joints (plastic pop together ones) which is what typically makes them child safe compared to what we do. They usually use safety noses too, not embroidered ones.

Artists... that's another story. Ellen McMaster (Em Bears) is the only crafter I know of who does it willingly! bear_original Oh, there's someone in the Guild too who makes cute ones... I've forgotten her name. I'm not sure if she's here too or not.

Have you tried searching the library... people have posted asking who makes child safe bears in the past. You may find some answers there.

I've done a couple for friends' kids, and they were a nightmare with the joints.  One of them has had its head pop off twice   bear_angry  It's on its way back from Denmark again for further surgery  bear_wacko

I make baby-safe bears, no joints, embridered eyes and noses.......synthetic fur, shaggy plush felt or fleece.....your choice

Thanks Joanne for remembering me as the person  who makes child proof bears.  And Daphne, that is okay that you forgot my name.  This is mainly what I make is the child proof bears and have for the last 30 years.
