Hi all

It may just be that I am particularly suspicious, but in the last 48 hours, I have had two enquiries about different bears on Bearpile that I suspect are fraudulent (phishing).  They were sent from different email addresses, but both had exactly the same wording:

"Hello,

I saw this wonderful item on Bear Pile and I am interested in adoption. Please let me know if this item is available and send me information on ordering.

Thank you."

I have emailed Dave at Bearpile about this and to be fair:  a warning about fraudsters appears on each email enquiry.  I just wanted to warn any of you that might not have such a suspicious nature.

my email account usualy lists bearpile messages as junk!
if someone orders a bear, the message is already there for them and they can add to it if they like.
if you go to your bear pile account and click on orders, those to messages should be there.

Hi Sue

The message you have received is an automated one that comes through to you when a collector shows an interest in you bear.  Sometimes they add their own wordage to this message, but others do not.  In most cases they are genuine emails, but you do get the odd one or two which lead to nothing.

Don't ignore them just in case they are for real.  Good Luck.

Thanks, ladies.  Maybe I have been working in IT for too long.  It makes you paranoid about things like fraud and identity theft.  My husband's account has been emptied on three different occasions.  I have been OK so far!

These messages will not appear in your orders folder unless the collector orders the item and adds their address and how they want to pay etc.  These automated messages are just enquiries, more often than not the collector is just checking to make sure the bear is still available and how they can pay, plus what shipping charges might be etc.  I have a lot of people who contact me off Bearpile who do not add messages onto the automated one but do communicate back when I send out a reply to the first contact poitnt.

Don't feel daft, I know what it is like to worry over fishy emails, the turmoil you get yourself into whether you should reply or ignore.  Its best to be on the safe side and cover your corners.

Whenever I have an order from bearpile it always come through my spam e mails...don't know why.As others have said you have received an automated message which usually means an order so don't ignore it.

I was just coming on to ask about that as I had the same e-mail.  As I've never had an order from there before, I had no idea how the e-mails might come through!

On Bearpile there is are a number of posts about this though as they all came from the same address in fairly poor English, and many users were contacted, but there is no notification of an enquiry on Bearpile itself
