Right I have a suggestion, what about doing a Round Robin.

I have loads of material and would be happy to donate a piece of good quality mohair.  I will start off the process by marking and cutting out the material.  Then send it off to the next person who would carry on the next part of the proceedure etc. and so on until we have a completed, when it eventually returns to me.

With the bear will be a card and before we send off the bear to the next participant we will sign it - and if you like say what our part in the process is and what country we live in.

We will also post a picture so everyone can see what we've done and to for warn the next person that the package is on its way.  I will send a list of the participants and you can PM them for their address (or I can collect the addresses and put them on the list - depending on how you folk feel about it).

We can keep the "bear in progress"for a week - or less - at a time.

If anyone has a really strong dislike that they would feel worried about ie: EARS, please say and I will try to honour this as it is important this fun not stressful!

The amount of work each of us do will be dependant on the number of us who take part.

When it comes back I was thinking of "silent auction" and the money raised could go to "WISPA" to help the Moon Bears.

I would be thrilled to organise this, and think it would be great fun.

Sounds like an interesting idea, perhaps we could have several bears in the works at a time starting in different places?  I'm slightly short on mohair right now, or at least mohair that doesn't have a pattern assigned to it (unbelievable, huh, don't know how I let that happen!), but I'm happy enough to donate a pattern or sew a bit...

This is a wonderful idea. I would like to contribute though I would need to wait to help till after the Teddy bear reunion in the Heartland show in June.

Hi Katy and Beth

I am sure it can be arranged that you don't have to contribute until after June, Beth.

Yes, Katy I guess we could have more than one bear going at a time, though that does depend upon others wishing to donate their mohair.  Personally I have more of the stuff than I will ever use in a lifetime!  This will give me a chance to nose-dive into my mohair chest (that is the chest that contains my mohair - not that I have a mohairy chest!) I am going to choose a piece that is traditional in colour - I love pretty colours myself, but I think it only fair to cater for the masses.

The fun of this will be seeing what the bear looks like in the end - it should be pretty unique with so many different styles.

Then I was thinking of contacting Teddy Bear Times to tell them about the idea.

Besides helping the real bears, I am hoping this will also help people be more of TT itself.

count me in. And I think the idea of more than one bear is a wonderful idea. But why don't we open it up to mohair and synthetics maybe each person could start off a bear and send it to the next person on the list. Opening up the fabric choice may make it easier for some people as some mohair can be expensive and more people may be open to something different. We can post each bear on a different time schedule or a couple at a time. Collectors will have a chance at a series of unique bears instead of just one. Each bear would be truly a one of a kind.

Okay rethinking my older post about everyone starting a bear bad idea postage would be outragous! Oops but I'm still in for the original bear or whatever it is we decide to do! *smile*

Amber.

That sounds an excellant idea.

Then we would have more bears to auction at the end of it.

Oh Amber,

Sorry after your first post I somehow skipped the second(!) - yes the postage would be a hmm ... problem.

I was thinking with the initial idea to keep it in countries ie. first Britain then onto the rest of Europe, then America and so on - to avoid to much to-ing and fro-ing, as it would be at bit silly to have it zig-zagging backwards and forwards.

If we got quite a few people in each country I guess we could have one from each country ... what about that?  Lets stick to one for the moment and see how it goes.

My ONLY request if synthetic fabric was involved is that it was a woven back NOT a knitted back fabric - I am afraid I can't use knitted backed fabric.  The poor creature would end up having stretch holes and a gi-normous head as I stuff my bear's heads very hard.

Sounds like a great idea, but I'm still undecided if I should participate, as I know that I'm still a beginner.
Plus, I don't have much money. If there were more participants from Europe, it would be better for me.

I would like to sew a little on the bear - I love to help the Moonbears.
If it is synthetic - I can donate a piece of brown mink with wowen back.

the more the merrier who cares if you are a beginer. Your avatar bear is sweet and unique. You have a style all your own and would be a wonderful addition to the project. I'm sure everyone else would agree.

Amber, thanks a lot for your kind words and the compliments on my viking bear
I'm thinking of it again and again, biggest problem here that I don't know if I could pay the shipping costs...

Karon was going to try to keep the bears in one area at a time to keep costs down. If it is a issue of shipping costs, pm her first before you make your decision maybe it can be worked out that you help out early before the bear is stuffed and maybe there is someone not too far away that has joined as well. You could try to work the cost out online and see if it works for you. Would hate to see someone not be included who wants to join because of postage. Consider this before you say yes or no. At least then if you have to say no you've examined the options. Everyone will understand.

Amber,

Hopefully there is somebody from not too far away that joined *crosses fingers*

Hi there!

There appears to be nine of us in the Round robin.

I have made a list of names and hopefully by the end of the week I will be able to post what each of you will be required to do.

Those of you at the beginning of the list will be doing more of the "prep" - please don't be offended by this it is no reflection on your bear making skills  far from it - we all now how important it is to the overall finished product.

If anyone else wants to join in before Friday that would be great.

I will start the ball rolling by sending to Ariane in Germany as the bear will be in its "lightest form".

Amber, the shiping costs stay under 10$ for me as I will prepare the mohair pieces for the sewer, so this is a price I can afford^^
Hopefully I will find the time, depending on when the pieces arrive, I'll maybe be in the middle of a commission - or in the middle of my holidays lol but those are just for a week, that won't be a problem probably *crosses fingers*

Hugs, Ariane
