I'd like to introduce my latest bear cub, Filbert. He has 6 joints, including a double-neck joint. His nose and claws were hand-moulded by myself. Although you cannot see them in the photo, his paws and feet are sculpted in leather. He is 15" and heavy. Takes after his 'mum'.

Sue
Wonderful fur; Skillfully sculpted nose; and though I'm not usually a fan of the "whites-of-the-eyes" look, these are fantastic!
Becky
Many thanks, Becky.
Aww he's adorable. I, too, love his fur and his nose is just awesome. Great job!!

Lisa
Many thanks, Lisa. Your mice are the cutest I've ever seen!
Oh my gosh, he's great!
Fab work. Love that face. How was the leather to work with? I really do love him. Definitely keep on this track.

He is outstanding Sue! What a face! and I love how you have trimmed this fur to show off it's beauty.
Joanne
Many thanks, Richard and Joanne. So glad you like him. I do love working with tipped alpaca - although the backing of this one was a trial as it was a little felted. Hi Richard. I use a soft leather. It is very easy to work with. A sewing machine copes well, but if the stitches are too close together, it can weaken it. When hand sewing, buy yourself some leather needles. They come in several sizes. Use the smallest you can manage.

Sue
Hi Sue,
You already know that I love this guy, but for the sake of other TT'ers (and just because Filbert is so adorable), I would like to express my appreciation for him here as well :
What appeals mostly to me is the expression of Filbert : the pleading “oh don’t you feel sorry for me?” expression, accentuated by the small patch of white behind the eyes. His expression is even more accentuated by the use of the two different tones of brown : the darker brown for the body and the head and the arms; and the lighter shade of brown for the muzzle and paws and feet.
The lighter fur on the muzzle and the darker fur around the head brings out the eyes better and gives him so much more expression. I really like the two toned fur, because you can create beautiful effects by cutting it a little shorter in the right places.
Though you can't tell from the photo, I just know that Filbert has a nice big heavy tummy as well. That always makes bears so much more huggable and lovable (who wants to see a bear with a thinner waistline than him/herself )
So a wonderful, magnificent bear !
