In 1981 my father bought me a Teddy Bear in Seattle, WA and gave it to me as a gift to remember him by.  I was 10 at the time.  I kept this bear with me and brought him everywhere I went when I was sleeping away from home.  I left him on accident one day at a friends house and when I went back the next day, my friend told me she had given him away to one of the kids she babysat.

I've tried looking for him online but do not know where to start.  I am hoping there is an avid collector that can help me locate a duplicate.  I named him JellyBelly because I believe that was the name on the tag in his ear when I got him.  He's a belly-bear.  He is permanently sitting.  I'd say he was 10 - 14 inches tall.  He was brown with cream color around his snout and on the bottom of his feet and maybe the inside of his ears but not sure.  He had black thread that came from his nose down to create his smile and his eyes were plastic.

Any help you can give me would be most beneficial.  Thank you in advance for taking time to help me.  ~Jen

Have you checked on eBay? I think my daughter has the same bear. I will see if she can tell me the true brand name of it, but the tag is probably so worn.............................

I actually spent hours on ebay looking but there were over 4000 pictures to look at...Please let me know what your daughter finds out or even a picture of her bear would be great for comparison.  Thank you so much for getting back to me Ellen!  bear_original  May God bless you and continue to walk with you!!

A quick Google search [jelly+belly+teddy+bear] showed me that the Jelly Belly candy company has issued various teddy bears as part of their product line (as advertising, I guess). If your bear was one of these, the company probably contracted with a company, for example a seamstress shop in China, to manufacture a number of bears in a certain style.

My guess is that it's something you'll need to hunt for occasionally to see if one appears for sale.

My daughter called her bear "Tubby" Bear....here is the picture of him. He had no eye when she received it. My brother bought it for her in 1979 in TX and when he got it home, saw there was no eye, but decided that by the time he exchanged it, she would never get it, so he sent it on with one eye. She says that Tubby has had no tag for years......................don't know who made it, but maybe someone can help, especially if it is like the bear you lost.....................

Dear Ellen,

Tubby is very close to my Jelly Belly in regard to coloring but it's not him.  His feet were forward not pointed down.  Thank you SOOO much for getting me the picture.  I bet they were made by the same maker but like you said, the tag is gone.  I need to go through my old pictures.  I know I have a picture taken of him on my bed.  Do you think if I scan the photo and post it that would help me find him?  You have a beautiful day and take care of you!   ~Jen

Dear Becky,

I have seen the website for Jelly Belly and I thought they sold jellybeans with bears later on the side...I will contact the company and see if they know anything about my bear.  Thank you for looking up the information!  I'm amazed that there are people out there with a heart that really care!  You have a beautiful day!  ~Jen

Hello Jen,

I don't know the bear you are talking about (I'm probably too young), but I think it would surely help the others to see if they know him if you could find a picture of him..

Hugs and good luck for finding him, Ariane
