Hi Sheila, by now you would be on the road to recovery! It has been said before, but yes, recovery will take a few weeks but will happen! I have had to take cortisone over the years-it DOES make you very hungry! The weight gain can be managed by trying to avoid cakes, bikkies, chocolate (sorry!! lol ) etc and eating lots of fruit, rice bikkies etc! Anything to fill you up with fewer calories. I hope you have a fast recovery! All the best! bear_original

Hi Jo,

It's been 2 weeks.  My left eye is starting to close halfway.  My mouth moving yet. I'm trying to be positive.  I'm off to see an Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist this morning. 

p.s. you are so right about being hungry.  I've been craving donuts so I bought some yesterday.  I had one yesterday and one this morning.  I have to be careful.  I don't want to gain.  I had just lost 10 pounds.  But the donuts SURE hit the SHOT! YUMMY!

What I do to avoid eating too much junk is to only eat the "good stuff."

If I want ice cream:  Ben and Jerry's.
Not every store has Ben and Jerry's.  I have to drive farther to get to a store where I can buy it.

If I want donuts:  Krispy Kreme.
Again, the Krispy Kreme is farther away.  Besides, the only way to eat Krispy Kreme is when you get them hot off the line.  If you haven't had a hot-off-the-line Krispy Kreme, you don't know what you're missing.

If I want a beer:  Chimay.
I never really drink cheap beer like Budweiser, et. al. anyway.  I might only drink beer once or twice per month, even when I have the extra money to spend.

So, first, it's farther to travel.  I have to expend more effort.  Second, it's more expensive.  I have to think about whether I really want to spend the money for snacks.

By the time I get around to going out to get a snack, I have a chance to think, "Do I really want a snack or am I just eating to pass the time?"
