At it's best! I took these pictures yesterday on my motorcycle ride yesterday. It was about 55F and might be the last day I could get out, so I took the time out of my bear-making to ride. The last deer ran out in front of me, but far enough ahead that I had time to stop, as did she. She waited very patiently while I got the camera out and took the pic!

All these pictures were taken within 10 miles of my house........................

How thoughtful of the deer to wait for you.  bear_smile
I wish there were deer within 10 miles where I live  bear_noexpression  (though it's probably best that they don't; they would get run over by cars within minutes  bear_sad )

Yes, we're coming into the rutting season.  Aren't we?  The deer will be on the move from now until winter settles in, around Christmas.

That means we need to watch out on the roads and highways!  Deer go crazy during the rut.

Peter,  I live in a medium-high density suburban neighborhood.  We have deer, turkeys and coyotes as well as many other creatures you would think only live in the country.  There are crows, hawks and even the occasional Bald Eagle.  I don't know the exact character of the neighborhood you live in but I bet you'd be surprised at the wildlife that lives right under your nose.

Believe it or not, there are coyotes roaming wild in most major cities in the USA.  Coyotes have been captured live in both New York City and Los Angeles.  There was a big uproar in the newspapers when coyotes were spotted inside the city limits, near where I live.  I, personally, have spotted coyotes in my back yard.  If my wife ever saw one, she'd probably pee her pants!  bear_happy  That's why I never tell her until AFTER the coyote is gone.  90% of the time, if you just holler at them, they'll run away.

Mother Nature doesn't give up easily!  bear_happy

fortunately, Peter, I live in an area that has mostly farm machinery, no where near a city! Actually, there is only 1 city in my county (the largest county in New York State) the other places are mostly Hamlets with a couple of villages......Basically, all very rural. It is not uncommon for the deer or other critters to get hit by cars, most people are aware of what is going on around them and avoid the deer. Last February, my husband hit a deer with my car. A site that I try not to remember. The deer jumped out onto the road hitting the right front of my van, scrunched the door and the front wheel panel and killed the headlight. The deer rolled over about 3 times, got up and bounded away across the road while we sat and waited for the police to file a report......David saw the deer ahead of time and was saying:"stay there, stay there." of course, the deer didn't hear him and jumped out anyway..............

Hopefully the next time I am out with my camera, I will see the turkeys and post their pictures................
