I've spent the last 3 days decorating.... going through box after box after box aft... oh, you get the idea... of Christmas decorations in the cellar that spend 11 months just sitting there taking up space! All so I can make the house look pretty for the month of December! Crazy!!! But I just love Christmas!!!! g055.gif

So, I was thinking, as we can't do a real Christmas House Tour to see everyone's beautifully decorated homes perhaps we could share pictures..... maybe of your christmas tree f050.gif, mantle g015.gif , nativity scene d046.gif .... whatever you want to share!

Anyone???

Great idea Daphne.  I'll have to get back here with some photos.  Right now I only have a tree up, Nativity scene, and a few other lights.  Right now I am trying to finish up some projects and am a bit stressed out      bear_cry  bear_cry   I wish I had a clone right now.

bear_sad  I don't think I'd get along very well with my clone, but I'm sure that in my last life I must have had a maid!

HA!
And I'm pretty sure I will have one in my NEXT life!  Isn't there something scriptural about that?  New body, no more tears?  Doesn't that translate into a maid?

Great idea, Daphne! I will have to come back to this one in a few days when I get finished!

See, I was just giving you all a decorating challenge.... to make it all picture perfect for us! LOL!

I'm kidding! Don't feel that kind of pressure, puleeze! Just thought it would be fun to see what folks in other corners of the world do to decorate/celebrate Christmas!

Eileen, I wouldn't get along with my clone either, she'd never do things the way I wanted!

Fran, are you going to tell that friend of yours that pictures of her house will be posted on the World Wide Web!???  bear_happy

Can't wait to see pictures!

wonderful idea......I'm not decorating this year......but I am doing something I have always wanted to do.  I have always wanted to collect father Christmas dolls.

Well why collect?

This year I am making my first.  So I'll share that when I get it done.

Maybe next year we will decorate....too much for me this year.

meanwhile I look forward to seeing what all you fabulously creative ladies, and gents come up with....it will really be a treat!

wonk2.jpgwonk1.jpgcan3.jpgcan2.jpgThis year i have......

a rather sparse sad 3' green plastic tree which we bought in Asda for £5.98, dressed with a set of very pretty red lights which we bought in Asda for £6.59 and to top it off i have a string of hand made tiny teddies which we bought in Samoens, France for 20 euros, 10 hand carved wooden bears which we bought in Samoens, France for 5 euros each and 1 wooden bear that Cee of Cee's Bears sent me earlier this year and 2 teeny little Christmas decorations that were sent to me from Anne of Starlight Bears.

I also have a lovely hand made german wooden thingy that has candles all around the base and when you light them makes the windmill type blades on the top spin around driving the three layers of Christmas scenes - oh this is stupid!!! I can't describe the thing - i'll have to get a piccy of it and post it here later.
bear_rolleyes
ooooooo nearly forgot........
I also have 2 of WonkyWoos Gollies sitting in the tree which they keep complaining about - 'get us outta here' they keep yelling in their little squeaky voices, 'oh shuddup' i keep yelling back, 'it's only for a few weeks'.... 'how would you like a plastic pine needle stuck up yer butt for a few weeks?' they both cry. The spirit of Christmas may be a little difficult to achieve with all this going on.

It takes me two days to put mine up and I am still making bears. It will be a couple of weeks till I can join in this one.We have five trees and loads of other stuff including a knitted by me (quite scary) nativity scene and it is impossible to work round it.I take my only proper holiday the week before Christmas.

Some of you have trees up already????  bear_shocked

I shall scrabble around frantically the week before Christmas, in a desperate bid to find a tree (the kids insist on a 'real' one) and then will wonder where on earth to put it.  After a fraught afternoon's hunt, I shall hand it over to my son to 'deal with' and once he's sawn it to the right size for the pot, I shall sit back, with a glass of something warming (!) and watch while my daughter makes it pretty.  She'll stand on tippytoe to reach as high as she can and then will have to hand the angel to her 6'3" brother, to place at the top of the tree!  bear_tongue

When it's all in situe and pretty, they'll then sit down and put their feet up while I clear up the mess that's left!  bear_cry

Reckon I wouldn't like that either!

DSC_0057-copy.jpgDSC_0055-copy.jpgFor as long as I can remember I have done what Paula does...have driven around to find a tree 2 or 3 days before Christmas (that  is part of the fun!!) ...then spent an evening putting it up!!

This year we have a very naughty kitten who climbs everything so we decided that we are having an artificial one...because last time we had a kitten and a real tree she fetched nearly every needle off it by 12th night. Lovely mess!!!

So with 2 new little babies in the family I decided to get on with it early this year..and have fiddled around today, making it look pretty instead of getting on with my bears. I have never had a tree up this early and I feel a bit silly. My sister, who lives next door, has hers up though so that's 2 of us early birds at least!!!

I have finished the sitting room and plan to 'do' the dining room at the weekend...

I have all of my little knick-knacks up that I use at Christmas. We don't have our tree yet, not sure when we can go to find one. I have been busy with orders..... a workshop this weekend with 28 kids, 4 "fur" bears (from coats) and a last minute order for 2 bears in Hockey outfits!!!! I love the orders, but why all at the same time?  bear_smile

I will post pics of our tree once it is up....   I am in the Christmas mood, been listening to Christmas music all day....  but they haven't played my favorite ones yet.... bear_sad maybe I'll call them

Oh, I heard that today is St. Nicholas Day.....so happy St. Nick Day.

Oh man, I feel bad now.
We just have a little 2.5 ft tree, and maybe a couple things to place elsewhere. I guess I just never buy any xmas decorations, so I really don't have anything.
You guys on the other hand look like professional decorators. So pretty.
Also, tree and our few other things don't come up untill about the 19th or 20th.
Keep the photos' coming ( DAPHINE!) at least this way I can live vicarioulsy through you guys

Pretty pictures!  We've had our tree up about a week now.  I've still got a few things that need to go up.  I'll try to post pics later.

Here's some pics on my website of my bear tree a couple of years ago.  I don't know how long I've had this tree.  I keep having to buy bigger trees.  It's all bear ornaments.  My mom got the idea for it when I was younger.  She found a bear tree skirt on vacation.  It's pretty easy to find bear ornaments.

I haven't been able to put it up the last 2 years because we don't have the space.  bear_cry  I can't wait to get a house!

Lisa,
Where is King George in VA?  My family has a place in Hot Springs (the Homestead) near the border of West VA.  Just curious.   bear_original

Beautiful photo's girls.  I've made it a habit to wait until AFTER December 9 to do anything Christmas as it's my daughters birthday.  I've made a huge effort in making sure her birthday has always been kept seperate from Christmas (which has not always been easy)...had a few go arounds with one particular grandmother over the issue.

BUT...my son and roommate are dragging the Christmas village out of the attic as I type this so we'll hopefully get it put up tonight and I'll try to post some photos when it's complete.
