OMG I have fallen in love again!!!!!

I have just purchased from E-bay a vintage Bernina sewing machine.  Well a girl (hmmm!) can never have too many  .

I really fell for the quirky lines of the old beauty.  Yes I know this is an unwarrented expensive Ali (!) as i have my modern Bernina and a Janome which is an absolute joy to use.

The model is the 707 and I thinks stems from the 1970s - can't wait to pick her up on Monday   .

My Mom has a Bernina at home - I think it's from the 1980s - and OMG I would love to have this one, but she won't give it away although she isn't anymore able to do something on this machine.

Oh the 1980's Berninas are lovely Andrea, is it the model 830 or 801.  Whatever keep pestering her for it!  I had an 830 - fabulous machine.

I think my 707 will raise a few eyebrows if I decided to take it to classes with me - it has that rounded contour that old machines have.  It is also 3/4 size too, which is nice.  I like small machines.  My Janome is only 3/4 size, my modern Bernina is a small standard size - it is the 380, only came out about 9 months ago.

This machine looks to be in superb condition with even its polystyrene packaging.  Apparently it belonged to the sellers mother-in-law.  I am so pleased to  be getting it.  It is more than I would normally want to pay but it has been so well looked after.

Felt a little scared after I pressed the "Buy it Now" button  .

Oooooh Karen, lucky you!!  I love Berninas so much. I have the Bernina Virtuosa 160, and love it,  can attach it to a PC to change stitches but not tried this yet, I have had lots of machines, Janome, Brothers, Singers but Berninas are my favorite, I have sewed on the older ones at a sewing class I went to and they are a dream, I also remember sewing on them in high school, they never went wrong, the new ones are not as dreamy but still brilliant. I also have a thing about machines, I also have an Elna Club and a Bernette (a cheaper version of the Bernina I think) for standby.   Have fun  bear_grin

Pauline,

Great to talk to another Bernina fan!  How old is the Vituosa - sounds a fabulous machine!

I just had a real yen to purchase a vintage Bernina - have discovered it dates from 1962.   Look up the 707 - it is a real old beauty.

I do love my Janome too, when you love sewing machines it is hard to stop isnn't it .  Can't wait to pick the machine up tomorrow!

I love everything about the Bernina - paticularly how lovely and QUIET they are, and so reliable.

In real money terms I think I have paid over the odds, but it does look in great condition - I could have picked up a more battered one a lot cheaper, but as I said it was love at first sight!!

Hi Karen the 707 looks brilliant, wow lucky you  bear_grin bet you can't stop sewing.  Never mind what you paid if you love it, it is worth it, enjoy it.   I have had the Virtuosa about 5 years... I think they were brought out a couple of years before I got it.  I do love it but the older ones are sturdier I think.  Would have one but space is short at home, I had an old Riccar until about a year ago which suddenly started smoking and fizzling, apparently the motor had gone and I didn't think it worth mending so let that go so I am one missing that I need to replace at some point   but we are hoping to move house this year so don't want to accumulate too much stuff to take with us.  I love the look of the old featherweights too, very tempting!!

We have a Bernina 807 here. It's fab.  bear_original Sadly we don't have any of the accessories or anything like that as it's an ex school machine but i'm hoping to pick some up.

Enjoy your purchase!
