I'm sure there is a topic some where for this but I couldn't find it.
So who's on Facebook now? Do you think it helps your business at all? I seam to see a small increase of sales if I spend a day a week "networking" not just Facebook but blogs, twitter & so on. It takes almost a full day to do all the networking, updates & such but it seams to be worth it. I keep trying to explain it to my husband (who's also an artist) but he doesn't get it LOL
Anyway if you're on Facebook here I am http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1245895740
or my Artist Page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Feather-H … 5086468292
Does anyone think it would be a good idea to have a spot on my forum just for networking http://featherheartcreations.iboards.us … m.php?f=18? So people can go list all their blogs, twitter & facebook accounts? Does anyone other than me sometimes feel a bit lost in all this LOL
yes a big loss of time but fun!! :cake: :cake:

I think there was a lot to be had from this thread:

I'm not qualified to answer this, as I am just a collector, but I would say that if someone were to tell me where they might look to find teddy bears -- or come across adverts for them, I'd already know of things like: etsy and bearpile. But I would never think of Facebook as somewhere to look -- it's a social site that has many other throughputs on it -- but likely drowned out by all the superfluous crap people can add on their Facebook page, etc.

Facebook is a fantastic place to promote your bears or any other business one may have by creating a Business Page! Most users know to search for their favorite product, craft, collectible, etc. as it's become known for being so much more than a social/personal network. I believe a majority of Facebook users with Business Pages do indeed have a regualr website and/or blog and market their good elsewhere as well. It just doesn't hurt to cover as many bases as possible.
There are even pages within facebook that you can promote your work on like:
Artist Teddy Bears for Sale - A place for artists to list new bears available for adoption and connect with collectors, has over 1000 followers/fans!
Artist Teddy Bear Promotions - A place for artists to promote their biz, bears for sale, photos, etc and for collectors to post photos of their hugs, etc.
Both places are a great way to connect with collectors!
Because users can connect Twitter, Blog and Facebook feed together the time it takes to promote you business can be cut down a bit and simplified. It's all still time consuming but as you've found, it can pay off!

Thanks so much Daphne! I had no idea there where pages like that within Facebook! I joined them both

Thanks I was looking more for something on networking & facebook. The topic you linked, while great, was about prices & the economy. I'm not worried about prices right now (I just had to go up on my prices & my customers didn't seam to mind) But I was looking more for a topic on "networking" like facebook as a way to advertise things for sale.

Perhaps I had mis-remembered then. I thought that thread deviated towards Facebook towards the end. Ah well.

Glad you signed up! The first link is to a page I created, the other to a page another bear artist, Katy Cameron, created.
There have actually been a few conversations here about Facebook, blogging, etc.
Here are a few you might find helpful:

Hi Daphne, while I'd have loved to have thought up something so brilliant, it was Katy Nissen who was the genius behind the second link
LOL! Sorry.. and sorry Katy Nissen! I knew I should have looked that one up first!
Ugh.... this is one of the biggest problems I have with all the "networking"... I can't keep everyone's names straight!
I agree Daphne...Fb is a great place for networking and posting photos of your work...and spending rather too much time! ....I've sent you a friend request Nina!
Oh thanks for the friends request! I'm trying to find everyone on TT on Facebook I'm sure I'll be spending way too much time on there lol
I have found Facebook to be an invaluable tool for promoting and selling my bears! Yes, it takes a bit of time and even at that you can find ways to simplify what "news" you are getting. Depending on the amount of "friends" you have, you have just upped your mailing list by that many. I personally love FB. However, I understand some people have run into social problems. It's not for everyone.
Warmest bear hugs,

I think a multi pronged approach is good. I have a blog, facebook & twitter & I will probably try out bearpile as opposed to ebay.
I'd also rather be friends with bear people on facebook than any of the people I went to school with!
