This SOOO annoying.

I am now on the THIRD head of my swap bears - the previous two went swiffy in the stuffing stage.

Now it is not unusual for me to do TWO heads - but THREE?  It is really most frustrating - when will I get one good enough to send to Lyn?!

Any comments appreciated.

Hi Karon

Keep the faith!  When I have stuffed a head and look at it, I usually want to throw it out...and in the early days of bearmaking I frequently did.  I now find that if I hold my nerve, then 95% of the time, the finished head meets or exceeds my expectations.  My just stuffed heads look awful.  They tend to look like potatoes, but so long as one side matches the other, they generally work out just fine.  By the time the head has some features added and some needle sculpting and scissor trimming, things tend to improve markedly.  The exception to this rule is a panda head.  I have three partly finished panda heads in my workroom.  None are finished or are likely to be to my satisfaction..hey ho!

I agree Sue,  I just keep working on the head. Sometimes I don't like it at first when it's been stuffed. But I know once I do some sculpting and put the eyes in and that I will like it.  Just stick with it and see how it goes,

I am on my second head for my swap partner.Tried a new fabric for the first head and didn't really like it so in the bin it went lol....there was nothing wrong with it just my taste in fabric.
It can be frustrating as you put so much time and care into it and having to start again makes you feel that you are never going to get on with the rest of the bear!
Keep going you will get there

I think thats why I have left my swap bear's head to sew last  bear_grin  I have pinned it twice and wasn't happy with it.  Will try again when the kids aren't around (so I can swear out loud if it goes wrong  ).  I've heard alot of times on this forum that the bears that cause the most trouble usually turn out to be the best - keep that in mind whilst doing head number three  bear_thumb

Up until recently I'd never abandonned a head, but now I have one (after Bunch's first one didn't work) rolling around on top of a cabinet to remind me to be careful and think things through

I agree with Shane - keep working on the head.  I have a before and after photo on this post on my blog of a bear I did a while ago....http://teddiesbylauralynn.blogspot.com/ … -after.html

Ahhhhh ... well.  The PROBLEM is it DOESN'T look symetrical bear_angry .

I do know what you guys mean when you say about coming back to a head - it has happened to me fairly recently but no, this not going to happen this time, lovely straight chin seam though  .

Anyway back to head number .... three.
