I have a bear made by Elize Fouche of African Bear Company and he's got a laminated tag hanging around his neck with his name and all the details, such as when he was made, when I got him, and that sort of thing. I'm pretty new to artist bears, but usually on my regular bears, the tags come off as soon as I figure out whether they're collector bears. I've heard that you should keep the tags on collector bears, but I'm afraid it's going to fall off or get bent because I sleep with him and hold him a lot. One of my other artist bears had a tag that was like a little booklet with her and I put it in a drawer so it would be safe. Should I do that for this bear? What do you suggest?
I leave sewn in labels, but loose ones are removed and stored carefully away on mine, they do get in the way of a good hug!
I agree with Katy. Hang tags usually go in an envelope or plastic bag and get stored away. (I have one place where I keep all of them.)

Glad to hear that. The tag just came off and the bear and I both sighed with relief.
I always take the tag off straight away and keep it somewhere safe. I believe that the bear won't feel properly at home until they have their tag off! :c    rackup:
I slept with Red last night and it was a lot more comfortable with the tag gone.
I agree...I think I have a tag phobia! All my tags come right off. I don't think the bear feels like you are going to keep him unless the tag comes off. They can be stored in a folder with plastic pockets for future refrence.

I agree totally, Jessie, tags should come off at once (unless they are sewn in of course). I also store them, together with all the documentation I have about the artist who made the bear, adoption fee, etc... in a A4 map with plastic pockets, neatly organized by date of adoption.
Moreover I keep a spreadsheet of all my adopted bears with the date of adoption, shop or website where it was bought, price, limited edition, etc.... Well that might be a bit difficult for you; as long as you know where you can find all the tags and adoption information about the bear.
In case you didn't know: I am bit crazy (when it comes to teddy bears otherwise I am reasonably normal, though opinions vary on that subject  ).
Hugs,

Peter ~ you are a man after my own heart! Gotta love spreadsheets!!!!
If you cuddle him, I would store the tag somewhere safe. I cuddle some of my bears at times but some bears don't seem to be the cuddle type.
