Braille TeddiesThe first mohair Braille Teddy is on his way. Right now he's still a piece of fabric because I have a scisor phobia around fabric, especially mohair because I don't want to make a hot mess. Lenora sent me a piece so I can see what it's like. Does anybody have anything I need to know before I start sewing? Thanks.
desertmountainbearI think that maybe you should be sure to use notches in the pattern. That way when you transfer them to the fabric you will be able to match them up when pinning and sewing. It helps me to be sure everything is lining up right.
Best of luck to you. You will love working with mohair I think. I am looking forward to seeing your new friend when you are done. Is this one going to be added to your collection, or do you have him promised?

As you sew your seams, remember to keep tucking the fur "inside" (between the two pieces) so that you don't end up with a lot of the pile sewn into your seams.

Braille TeddiesI don't know whether I'll keep him or sell him. I'll just have to see what happens. I can't wait to start making him. I'm just trying to find someone who knows how to cut it because I have a hate/hate relationship with scizors. Becky, who is getting your faux fur bear?
I'm not sure who will get the faux fur bear. He's huge - about 23" tall - and I'm making him for the realistic bear challenge, so I've used some techniques that are new to me. (He's inspired by the Kermode bear - a nearly white black bear from the Pacific northwest.) I should be done in the next couple of days.

Braille TeddiesWell, I've finished the bear, but the lady who cut him out cut into the fur, so I don't know whether I'll be able to sell him or keep him. I love him, but I'm not sure what the professionals would think. Of course he's a flattie. I liked the fabric, but I wouldn't say that it's a whole lot easier than my faux fur. I've had some faux fur that was a royal pain, but the fur I get at the fabric store is pretty easy to work with, except for that stuff I got at Hobby Lobby, which I can't even get anyone to help me cut. If there's a good backing I can usually work with it. The faux fur Becky sent me to make that flattie, I want to marry it and have its baby, lol. I wore it for a while, but it was awesome to work with.
