I have an idea in my head for a pattern.  I can visualize the shapes of the pieces.  I want to do a full bear with a whole bunch of pieces for the first time.  I'm thinking about trying to find someone with vision and getting them to help me cut it, but the ideas for the shapes will be my own.  I'll either trace it with my finger or draw it and get someone with sight to cut them for me.  What do you guys think of this and do you have any advice?  Thanks.

This sounds pretty exciting, Wubbie! One thing you could try is thread jointing. Other people could describe it better, I'm sure, but in a nutshell, you run a long needle with strong thread through the area (let's say from one shoulder to the other, or from the top of the head to the bottom of the body) several times - at least I think that's how it's done!LOL

Wubbie - it sounds do-able to me! You'd have to be in person with a person who has already designed their own patterns, someone who has created work that you like, so you know that it will come out in the end with a product that will represent what you are going for but I think it would work.
I wish you were closer to Chicago or I was closer to Murfreesboro and I'd volunteer. I'd like to meet you sometime anyway, just because you've got such a 'Can Do' spirit!!!

Why don't you contact an artist that you admire or does critters that are close to your vision and see if they are willing to work with you. Plus, see if they can give you a design class.  you may have to travel to their location so factor in those expenses. Good luck.

It's really hard to travel for me right now.

Well, I've finally got some patterns, so I think I'll play with them first so I'll have the concept before I try to design my own.
