A box arrived today addressed to my hubby.... on the top was written "DAPHNE DO NOT LOOK!"

It came from a town very close to where a particular TT artist lives. I had told my hubby about her bear on auction recently and how VERY BADLY I wanted that bear. I've refrained from checking that auction to see if he even really bid on it. But knowing him, he did!

I think said artist just used a friend's address to try to throw me off. I may not be the sharpest pin in the cushion but I'm not easily fooled! I just KNOW that that very special bear is in that box, which is now in my house. I can hear him grumbling to get out and saying he's hungry and wants to see our Christmas tree and help me wrap presents. I told hubby he had to at least open up the box and give him some cookies.... the poor thing has 9 days to go in there!!

I've gone and talked to this bear through the box... in fact I just went in and said good night to him! I know if I pester hubby long enough he'll break down and give him to me early. I'll do things like leave a note in the now empty cookie jar saying "Bear Was Here". And on his pillow saying "Must be nice to sleep in that cozy warm bed instead of a BOX!"

I know, I'm awful! I hate surprises! I have no patience! I'm such a snoop! I've known everything I was getting for Christmas every year for as long as I can possibly remember!!! My parents were very good at hiding things but not good enough! Is there a cure for this?????

I want my BEAR!!!!!!!!!!!

OOOHHH just wait til you get that box open!!!!That bear will just jump out to greet you. You just have to wait or you'll ruin all the hubs hard work getting the bear etc.

Lol Can just see you now talking to the box only to open it Christmas morning to get a coat instead of Bear!  bear_grin  bear_smile  bear_grin  bear_smile

Daphne - you are so funny...I can just picture you talking away to that box.  I'm the complete opposite to you, I hate knowing what I'm going to get for my birthday as the day always seems such a let down then!  Having said that, I'm not one of those insane people who can keep their mail unopened until they find just the right moment - I've been ripping my Christmas card envelopes open between the mailbox and the house!

Hope you have a fab Christmas morning...and do let us know the outcome   bear_grin

Hilarious!!  It reminds me of giving little Samuel a hug and a kiss on the forehead and saying "I'll really miss you," before I put him in the box to be shipped away to his new home.  What is it about bears and the way they look right into your heart?

I, too am one of those who DO NOT want to know what I've gotten.  My husband, darn him, will come over and say, "Do you want me to tell you what I got you?" and I respond a resounding, "NO!!!  I WANT the surprise!!!!" lol

Why can I see you madly ripping into the box, paper, packing peanuts and cardboard shrapnel flying everywhere?  Just tell your husband to take cover...

I'm cracking up laughing...Daphne you are a riot.  I know exactly how you feel...I can hardly "bear" knowing something is just waiting for me to rip into it.  It's just not fair that poor little bear has to wait for 9 days...and you have to wait to rescue it from that suffocating box...AND we (okay especially me) have to wait to hear which bear it is.

Oh the poor bear... bear_grin

bear_laugh Awwwwhhhh...how sweet to be talking to him all ready  bear_wub   It won't be much longer and then you and your new ted will be inseparable    Just think of the fun you'll have as you prepare for New Year's together  :bday: ?  And I think it would be a shame to waste your hubby's hard work, trying to figure out who's in the box.

LOL OOoh Daphne, that is sooo cute, you have to tell us which bear it is - after Christmas, or even Christmas day when you know for sure!

Good luck - I hope you are right, because, gee, you are going to be disappointed if you're not LOL

Ha, ha, ha!  bear_grin  bear_grin  bear_grin  Daphne, I'm saying a prayer for you that the bear is in that box. Be a little patient and wait for just a few more days. Lucky you if you do get that very special bear. It wouldn't even cross my husband's mind to buy me a special artist bear. These ideas never come to him. He did however bring me home a big bear a few years ago after helping out at his schools car boot sale. I was so touched that he had actually bought a bear for me...then he spoilt it by saying the woman was selling everything off for 10p. Phooey!  bear_wacko

Hi Daphne,
Your post made my day - I haven't laughed so loud in ages!  I'm also on your side about surprises - I absolutely hate them.  I guess it was the practicality of growing up in a home without much money.  We didn't have money to waste on items that weren't wanted, so when it came to Christmas, we didn't get too much, but our parents made sure our gifts were something on our list.  Hence, when I hint for something at Christmas or birthday and it's ignored, I get upset.   It took my poor hubby a long time, but he finally caught on!
Does your poor wee bear have holes to breathe?  It must be hot and stuffy in there.  You could poke a few tiny holes and sneak him a treat, for being such a good bear.  Can't wait to hear all about him - are you going to be able to hold out until Xmas?  Good luck!

                                                                   Hugs,

                                                                   Brenda

So, I ask Hubster this morning if he woke up the bear.

(Now, mind you, we're both really sappy about teddy bears.)

He said; "No, I thought I'd let him sleep after his travels. No! Wait! I don't know what you're talking about! What bear???"

HA! Got him!!!  bear_laugh

Still didn't give me the bear though.  bear_sad   bear_cry

Dilu - He says he really wants to get out of that box and see the 7 inches we've gotten of snow today! And that he wants to hang the special ornament he brought with him on the Christmas tree. He's been coming up with lots of good reasons to get out of there!

I am so bad at waiting too!!! My parents use to hide the gifts in the camper, close all the blinds and take the keys with them!  We use to find them in the house, in the attic or in their closet.... but they got smart and hid them OUTSIDE LOL... I am still bad with surprises! We want to see pics then bear_original right gals?

Oh, you just HAVE to wait!! If you open it (and it IS your bear) then you will love him and put him on a shelf and it will be over. This is too much fun to pass up! Don't miss it, there are too few things in life that really bring out the child in us!!

But if you haven't opened it how do you know.............

Oh Daphne - the suspense!
I suppose you have done all the things like shake the box, feel how heavy it is!.
Good luck with waiting - how many more sleeps to go?

Daphne, the poor teddy is lonely in there all by his lonesome self.  bear_cry   I can't wait to find out who's in there!  Let us know when you find out.

You are awful tricking your husband into saying the bear should sleep after his travels!  bear_tongue

We want pics too!

I guess you have to wait - think about how much more fun it will be on Christmas day.  bear_original

ROTFLMAO.....Daphne, just be patient....and don't trick poor hubby....thats not fair....us girls know we're smarter than them, so its an advantage we should save for the important stuff.....well You think this is important, but what about the magic of opening it on Christmas day.....won't that be better?

Glenys... NO! I want to give him a big hug now!!!!

The artist of this bear is trying to really throw me off now! Telling me he's now on Intercal's website as a sample bear for the alpaca he's made of so he can't possibly be in the box in my house she says! HA! Nice try my dear! He is indeed there, I saw, but in photo only! He's safe and warm, perhaps a bit lonely and hungry but none the less, here in my home!!!  bear_wub   bear_wub

8 more days.....

Oh, I have to confess..... I stuck my hand in the box...... found his nose.... it IS a bear.... NOT a coat or anything else! I didn't LOOK though! Give it another day or two.....

Guess I'd be a naughty girl then and Santa won't come. But that's ok cause I'll have my bear!
