he looks good!    The more bears you make the better you get and you begin to develop your own style.  I can't tell if those are glass eyes or not, but you definately want to use glass(unless your bear is for a child)  There are lots of topics in the library about muzzles and eyes.  Good luck your off to a great start!!

Welcome to Teddy Talk! I agree that this is a good-looking bear! bear_flower

What is is about the muzzle and eyes that you're not happy with?

Hello, thankyou for your lovely comments, I'm so glad you both like him x. I wouldn't want to change this one now but on other bears i do, i wanted to get more of a rounded muzzle. I've seen some scissor sculpting tutorials and have tried but it seems the fur doesn't want to go rounded at the nose, more sticking out! With this bear I cut his head piece with the fur going towards the back of his head rather than down but still it seems it just wantS to 'stick out' so i haven't sculpted it much. I so adore Baggaley bears their muzzles are perfect.

I love her bears, too. Here are a couple of thoughts:
- Vicki uses short-pile mohair or mini fabric and makes miniature bears; You're using long-pile synthetic plush on a larger bear. Different fur does give different looks.
- Try trimming the fur shorter than you have in a line coming down from the eyes, and also in front near the nose. This will give definition to the muzzle, and if you leave the fur a bit longer mid-muzzle, you can do your rounding there.
- If you're going for rounded, trim the fur going down in the direction of the pile. Use only the tips of the scissors and trim a little at a time. Follow the curve that you want down the sides and then under the jaw or chin of the bear.

With time and practice, you'll get the look you want (or maybe find something you didn't know you wanted). bear_original

I think your bear looks great, but I think that Becky's tips are very useful to accentuate the muzzle more.
I think it would make a similar bear more expressive if the muzzle is trimmed somewhat more.  :teddybear:
If you take a look at Becky's "Daisy" in the teddy bears and pals section, I think you will see what I mean.  bear_thumb
