For artists and collectors sponsored by Intercal...your mohair supplier and Johnna's Mohair Store
Hi All, I hope you are well. Here is question for those of you making and selling in the UK/Europe. I have recently read an article online that mentions that anything that is being sold that is either a toy or even just looks like a toy needs to be CE compliant. Is there anyone that would be able to provide me with a little guidance as I am hoping to start selling my mohair jointed bears at craft fairs and online? Many thanks in advance! Rach
This is the definition of a toy in the gov safety regulation site:
"Toys are products designed or intended (whether or not exclusively) for use in play by children under 14 years old. "
As our bears are designed for collectors you just need to make sure that your bears are labeled as not suitable for children under 14 years of age. I also have it written on every page of my website so that there can't be any doubt.
Hope this helps
Just label your Bears with a tag that says something to the effect:
"Our collectable Teddy Bears are made with the highest quality materials and workmanship but are not intended to be played with by children under 14 years of age."
CYA all the way!
Hiya, Thank you so much for your advice and so speedily as well! It really is a can of worms! I have been reading various sites and my head is turning mushy now I think i'm going to chill and do make some more bears to relax! Thank you again!
