Hi all was just wondering if The Teddy Bear Annual magazine is still going? Been looking out for the spring/summer 2013 for a while now, so I tried google but all the hits are for last year. Magazines are expensieve but I treat them like books and offen re -read old copies. Reading about other artists and seeing all thier work is a never ending source of inspiration. I have never seen any teddy bear magazines from countries outside the UK despite looking every time I fly anywhere. Which are good ones to look out for?

The only one I know of is Teddy Bear Times.

I've been thinking about subscribing, but not sure I can justify it atm, so I've put in on my Amazon wish list, and hopefully someone will get it for me for Christmas! I think  you can buy individual issues as well, not sure how much it works out at including postage.

Hi Caroline I was bought Teddy Bear Times as a subscription for Christmas last year and it's been a great present. Before I only use to buy it now and again as only the larger WHS  seem to stock it. Getting a subscription doesn't make it any cheaper unless you buy it over 3 years for £75 but I suppose it it is delivered to your door for free. I have n't tried the iMag version  (having accesss to all the back copies sounds amazing) but I like to cosy up on the sofa with a cuppa to read mine - maybe if I ever afford an ipad bear_wub  Plus when I'm working on a new bear I like loads of visual images around me from books magazines bits of fur old buttons and the like it helps me develop new ideas.
Yes Becky that is the one I'm talking about but when you click on the 'buy latest copy' it is Autumn/Winter 2012. The Spring/Summer 2012 came out in May 2012 so following that the Spring/Summer 2013 should be available by now??

Hmmm... You're right, Michelle. I haven't heard anything about it, though.

Hi Michelle,

As far as Teddy Bear Annual is concerned, I can't give you any more information either.  From what I gather, it was never certain that the magazine would be a regular publication (even though it's only two issues per annum).  Since the previous Spring/Summer issue was released on May 25th, I very much doubt whether we will see one this year.  If you would like, I could contact Kathy Martin on Facebook, but since she hasn't been active on it for a long time, I am afraid that she won't read these mails either.

As concerns other Teddy Bear Magazines (in other languages I mean):
There are two very good and high quality German Magazines: "Teddys Kreativ" and "BärReport"; both are interesting for collectors and artists/amateur bear makers, including artist portraits, show reviews and patterns.   There is another smaller German Magazine called "Teddys & Co" which contains mostly teddy bear patterns and instructions.

There is one Dutch magazine called "Poppen & Teddy-Beer", but since half the magazine is about dolls and the other half contains mainly teddy bear patterns, I don't buy that one anymore.

The French magazine "Ours & Poupées" has been discontinued if I am not mistaken.

Then you have the American Magazine "Teddy Bear & Friends", which is good, but (in my opinion) can't compare to Teddy Bear Times.

The only magazine I haven't read yet is the Australian magazine "Australian Bear Creations", but there was on post here on TT about this magazine: http://www.teddy-talk.com/viewtopic.php?id=44528

Sadly the Teddy Bear annual has ceased publication since Kathy resigned her position as editor a few months ago.  I don't know if this is a permanent decision on behalf of the publishers, but it is definitely a big loss at the moment. bear_sad

Oh well bear_sad thank you Paula at least I cam stop serching for a copy now. What a shame though I thought it was a great publication.
Peter I have been wondering about German publications for a while now as I quite offen have to spend time in Munich or Frankfurt airport but the news stands seem to have everything except bear magazines. I soppose it is quite a specalist area. I have seen BarReport on ebay and was wondering if it was worth a bid so thank you for your input. Googled Teddys Kreativ and that looks fabulous too (from the pictures - my German is VERY basic!!)
