Jenn, I made this bear especially for you as you said you like more traditional kind of bears...
I don't know can we call SONYA "traditional" bear but I put all my efforts to make her not look like ANIME...    

Ok
She is about 10 inch tall.

- Japanese mohair
- ultrasuede for paws
- painted colored aqua eyes with eyelids
- polymer clay nose covered with gold color paint
- fully jointed
- stuffed with poly
- crocheted scarf, 100% mohair
- shaded with oils

I do hope you like her. My mom said she likes SONYA the best!

And I love this kind of fur, disstressed type one.   

I'll make more bears very soon, as soon as I feel better.

I haven't been that much sick for a few years. It's really upseting me, cause I can't to do anything.. no bears, dolls, or other holiday stuff.

I make (bake) a cake-house every New Year, but don't have any health to do even that...

Dilu, Maybe it's not a symbol but seems to me the bear is ALL Russian inside: the soul, the manners, everything..
Almost all our fairy tales have a bear as a main character. And bears are trully in our hearts.  :hug:

The symbol of our Primorsky Region (the place where I live) is Ussury TIGER.
By the way, our olimpic symbol was  BEAR! :hug:
